Software You Hate But Have To Use

Skype has been a pill ever since Microsoft took it over. I'm trying to get my friends to use Discord but the process is very slow.

 

Uplay and origin. Simply because of rather everything just be in one place and not having to deal with multiple layers of DRM. Ubisoft, if your games are already on steam, why the f*** is uplay even a thing?

 

Not a program, but I hate that I almost have to use livestream. It always seems hit or miss whether it's going to actually work when I need it to.

 

I love Adobe, but I hate their premiums (along with every other company that uses the subscription based model for what was once a one time payment).

 

I don't understand the hate for Windows. I can't stand using Linux, personally.

I installed it and never used it. I mean, the desktop full-screen mode is neat and the app is pretty neat too.. but I simply don't care about temperatures enough -- however, this is mostly due to the fact they barely change. My X60 is on a locked chip. Go figure. :D

Most of the time, especially nowadays, I don't really find myself using software I don't like to use. I simply switch it out for something better. 

 

Discord > Skype

PRNT SCRN + Paint > ShareX

OneNote/Google Keep > Evernote

Notepad/Notepad++ > Brackets

 

etc etc

Steam.

Never liked it and I still don't like it.

Bring back the days where games were on DVD's and you didn't have to spend days downloading GTA5 at 300kbps.

Try a chat program called "Slack". They and you might be into that.

Windows store....

Seriously cant they make this simpler? I know they know how to make a better interface. It reminds me of the Windows 8 UI.

There is a reason nobody liked the Win8 UI........

 

Half complete apps on Windows phone that have full functionality on iOS or Android. Seriously if you make an app that supports 2 OS's why not port the same thing to the third? Seriously.

 

Why do so many not like Skype? I mean I know it is not as good as it was but it used to be the best one out there. You can video chat, message, send files, make calls to land lines from the pc . . . .  I find it useful.

I'm one of those people that enjoy a multitude of OSes, including Windows, Android, Linux, iOS, etc. While I certainly don't like everything about Windows(the registry annoys me), I still like it a lot.

heck, throw OSX and iOS on there as well.

and with all my love for linux, i passionately hate it when my installs break :P

 

i also kinda hate all modern IM software: flip skype, discord tends to piss me the hell off, and their buisiness model is shady at best, i kinda like teamspeak but it has its flaws... (like perms breaking on me WAAAY too much), ventrilo.. hah, they havent had an update since i first downloaded it...

 

i hate drivers in general, not even a specific device type, just all drivers. the amount of time i've spent on windows 7 trying to get "plug & play" devices going... (props to digilent for the worst product i've ever used, you guys cant even type the name of your own company right in your google ads...)

 

rainmeter can annoy the living hell out of me sometimes, and to finish it off: i keep getting this popup on my phone, but i have yet to find out which app will let me try its pro version for free...

 

conclusion:

its easy to hate, but its hard to love like i love a good kebab..

What do you dislike about OSX and IOS? I honestly think they're so simple and well made -- atleast compared to Windows. If we could have game support & DirectX on OSX, I'd be living in a dream world.

Windows. Unix is better in everyway except gaming and support. Big killer there

I don't think I can mention the systems by name (job agreements and such), but I dislike a majority of the software the organization I work for utilizes for day-to-day things. The applications seem to be some combination of outdated, buggy, counter-intuitive, and poorly integrated with other systems. Heck, the company made a poor choice years ago when they spent a LOT of money trying to go for a transition to Silverlight.

 

Other than that, I don't use software I hate on my personal systems.

i also kinda hate all modern IM software: flip skype, discord tends to piss me the hell off, and their buisiness model is shady at best, i kinda like teamspeak but it has its flaws... i hate drivers in general, not even a specific device type, just all drivers. the amount of time i've spent on windows 7 trying to get "plug & play" devices going... (props to digilent for the worst product i've ever used, you guys cant even type the name of your own company right in your google ads...)

 

rainmeter can annoy the living hell out of me sometimes, and to finish it off: i keep getting this popup on my phone, but i have yet to find out which app will let me try its pro version for free...

 

conclusion:

its easy to hate, but its hard to love like i love a good kebab..

Drivers have always worked for me.. Even plug and pray.

Origin and Uplay. Had to reinstall Windows because Origin fucked my PC in the ass, Uplay just sucks in general.

 

I think I'm the only one here that like Windows though.
