connect a hd60 pro to a 144hz 1440p monitor

Don't think so as it's only capable of recording or streaming at 60fps.

can you connect a elgato hd60 pro to a 144hz 1440p monitor and still get 144hz?

No. It supports a maximum of 1080p 60FPS. As it's a pass through, the output will be limited to what the capture card supports.

It does seem like there's some ways to use different outputs to get it to record while still having 144Hz, though https://www.reddit.com/r/Twitch/comments/3u4rab/nvidia_gpu_144hz_elgato_hd60_pro_dual_pc_oh_my/

You can, but it will run at 1080p. There's a link in my post that shows how you can still use it to record while using a different output for the monitor.

If it's a pass through then it should work perfectly fine. Assuming HDMI can support 144hz 1440p to begin with. That I'm not sure.

HDMI 2.0 can. However, the capture card is not using HDMI 2.0, so it cannot. Even if the GPU supports HDMI 2.0, it's still going to be limited by the capture card as it passes through.

Nope

I dont know of any capture cards that run at 1440p, or at 144hz pass through

best to use software capture like shadowplay or OBS with intel quick sync for no performance loss
