SSD Boot Failure

Recommended Posts

Posted · Original PosterOP

Hi

I currently have a Western Digital Hard Drive with 180gb of data. I got a new Samsung SSD 250gb for my birthday but I am having some problems.

The Samsung Migration Program was unsuccessful because the program continued to crash after 11 seconds of cloning. So I use another program called Macrium Reflect

I think it was successful because my ssd only 50gb of free data after the cloning but I am having some problems with the booting. Whenever I try to boot with my ssd. I get a black screen with booting error.

Here is what I tried:

Disconnected Western Digital hard drive from motherboard. The ssd boot still goes to black screen

Tried to go to boot settings in my asus bios and tried to override with Samsung evo 250gb. FAILURE

I need other options. Please help

I also made some changes in the disk partition by making my ssd the primary disk with boot but I am still having problems booting my Windows 10. Please help

I feel that a fresh install of windows each year is a good practice to get into, but it is a pain and a minor inconvenience so I don't do it enough, but if you are getting a new boot drive there is no reason why you shouldn't do it.

Reinstall windows.

Yep i think that's the best way to go. Just reinstall windows so you won't have any problems, just got my 850 evo too yesterday and i just installed new windows and don't have any problems whatsoever.
