choice-what would you do??

papapoi

hi everyone, i have a moral question.

i recently ordered a refurbished 550w power supply from corsair and received the package today and instead of the power supply i got this

i want to just keep the keyboard, the psu was only $53, lol. but i know the right thing to do is to return it. which i will, this would be the first actual mechanical keyboard that i would have, i have bought for other people but never myself, anyway just wondering what everyone's thoughts were on this.

Maybe call them (whoever you ordered from) and tell them you got a keyboard instead of a PSU. Ask if you could keep the keyboard at a discounted price or something. From what I know people generally let you keep the thing and send you a new one (example: my lifepreef case failed the water test so they sent me a new one free of charge, so i get $180 worth of cases for $95.)

That keyboard is worth around $100 USD refurb. If you can still afford a psu for your build keep it.

i agree with @TubsAlwaysWIns you should let corsair know that they sent you the wrong thing and just ask if you can keep it at a discounted price. i wouldn't call it stealing if you didn't but it would not be morally correct

I would contact Corsair and tell them what happened, then do as they say.

Contact corsair, they're usually fairly nice. They should let you keep the unit on good measure, but you may need to pay for the PSU at a discounted price.

well, i did the morally right thing and called them and no deal on keeping the keyboard or even getting a discount, the csr even wanted me to drive out to the ups store to drop it off, so ups is going to come out and get it, the one good to come out of this is that i wanted to cancel the order in the first place since it was only a 550w psu, so i was hoping he would offer a free upgrade to a 750 for the trouble but no deal, so i cancelled the order and will buy an evga from amazon.

i guess i did the morally right thing but honestly shipping to hawaii is expensive he would have been better off letting me keep the keyboard and asking if i would place another other for a psu. thanks for the replies, better to be honest even though its a beautiful keyboard. maybe i should take it out and try it for a day, haha, JK

My moral compass tends to go out the window when dealing with big business.

Just so you know in the US if something is shipped to you (Like it has your address on the package) it is yours almost 90% of the time. The company will ask you to send it back and might even ask strongly, but unless i am wrong im pretty sure it would be a mistake on their part and they really couldn't do much in the eyes of the law
