Something is wrong with my i5.

and I dont have another system, only a laptop

My warrenty ran out ;-;

But still reset it, either take out the CMOS battery, unplug the system and hit the power button a few times or reset to default in the bios menus

How to install a CPU

Thats unfortunate, you know anyone else with a H97/Z97 board? It could be your motherboard

So! Lets get started shall we?

The i5-4440 is normally 3.1GHz, around 3.2-3.3GHz turbo boosted correct?

Yeah well today my i5 is not having a nice day.

Just came home from school, went to boot up my computer. Boot time, for some unusual reason, was incredibly fast for a 2TB Seagate around 30 seconds. That was the first thing I noticed, then I logged in as my account (those who use Ubuntu know) saw that everything loading very quick, then this is where it started. I opened TF2 and went into system monitor and set hl2_linux to very high priority (as I usually do, I notice 10-15 fps increase :)) then I hopped into a server and wow oh god, my lag. It was my cpu, I checked temps and they were low around 30-40 and when I'm playing they are around 50-60. Checked my CPU usage it was the very most, 4% and its usually waaay above that. Then I closed it and done a quick Cinebench and my scores were about 70 lower than usual image below.

cinebenchscorei5.thumb.png.367219c331ea1

Then I rebooted, and found out my i5 was running at 800MHz WITH turbo boost, I always have it on if that helps. 800mhz.png.0b39eda777919f6f3b4f0fbd10334

I rebooted multiple times, tried launching applications but nothing has changed!

This problem has just occurred like 3 hours ago ;-;

Please help, if you need any other information at all do ask please :).

Also I have NOT installed any software or anything, my computer has been the same for 2 months and its been running fine. except now of course.

It could not of been thermal throttling since I have it set to 90 degrees (btw the temps im using here are degrees Celsius).

I just dont understand. Nothing happened yesterday, everything was fine and this just popped out of nowhere.

Things I have tried:

Updating kernal and other software.

Monitoring temps to check thermal throttling and of course none happens

Forcing my CPU to use 3.1GHz+ by trying to use cinebench but it stays at 800-900MHz

Thank you for reading, and once again, if you need any other information at all ask please

Main specs:

i5-4440

MS-7869 mobo (pre-built one :/)

2X4 GBs of hyper furyx kingston

2tb seagate hdd

optical drive which i barley use :P

Did you just try re-setting the bios to default? I've had odd glitches like that with an Athlon a while back
