Good point

TheRandomness

The agree button kinda accomplishes this. Although I do agree we need that function back.

I hate that we have to live in some kind of bubble where we can only leave positive feedback.

I can understand what they are doing. for agreeing you don't need to argue much and it helps a lot for overview if not 10000 people share the same argument on and on only to show there's a mass of people that are the same opinion.

If you disagree with another person, it's not helpful at all just to dislike it, but you should use arguments why you disagree with them.

I definitely understand why it is like it is. At the same time, there are definitely times when you may disagree with someone. I already created a thread on this and it was shot down rather quickly so I won't rehash all of that. Just seems silly to call something a "reputation system" where you can only have a positive reputation. IMO they should call it "fuzzy warm carebear points".

I feel that the good point is already covered by "informative" and "agree".

I would almost regard the good point as the two of these combined.

Whereas people felt like we were lacking a sort of equivalent to the

previous "like", which is why it was renamed to thumbs up.

A slightly more generic catch-all, for a post you generally like, or

recognize maybe without warranting a reply and not being particularly

funny, informative or specifically agreeing with an opinion or argument.

Not the official statement regarding this, just my 2 cents.

If you feel that they've got a good point, you can "agree" with them. It was replaced because we felt that the two categories overlapped, and there wasn't much point having them both.

Can we add a "Thanks" button?

I think "thumbs up" accomplishes that

I sometimes see the thumbs up as a sarcastic response, like the cool story bro meme, though a thanks could be used in the same way

I use "funny" for that

or use funny for "your point is so bad that I laughed"

or their post was trying to be funny, so you marked it "funny"

Yeah, I generally use funny as disagree when someone posts some off-the-wall advice. It'll never be a perfect system but we can make due in our own way I guess.

Well, I'm marking your post as funny, not that I disagree with you but because it is funny.

Imo friendly and Thumbs up are now too similar. Good point served as neutral option. Thumbs up isn't same thing, not even close. Now I use Friendly where I would have used Good Point.
