Integrated RAID Controller with a expansion card?

Redfern

Hello, I have this board, GA-X58-USB (http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3571#sp) and it has a integrated RAID controller, according to this page. Although the SATA ports on board are only 3GB/s and most are broken. So I was wondering if I brought a PCI-E STAT expansion card, such as this (http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3571#sp) if it would recognizee the drives and I would be able to create a RAID array with the built in controller with working SATA ports and at 6GB/s.

Cheers :D

You'll only be able to use the integrated RAID controller with the on-board headers. There seems to be a mess-up with the link to the card in question but if it has a RAID-controller of it's own, you can use that to set up the arrays. If it doesn't but you need RAID, get one with a RAID controller.
