How do I save all preferences of some programs before fresh install?

Aleksbgbg

How do I save preferences for all programs on a laptop before I fresh install windows 10 on it?

My dad has filled it with bloatware, he has like 50 antivirus programs and it's really bugging me that it is always at 100% load.

3 things which I need to keep on it though:

1. Preferences/data for a program called "NavMan", seen him use it to update his navigation system.

2. iCloud connection - he has iCloud photos classed as a 'System Folder' - will it be deleted from the install or is it an internet thing? I don't understand apple stuff x(

3. iTunes songs - he has 24GB of songs.

If I can keep all those things then it would be really nice to revive his laptop (it is actually quite nice, has graphics card and everything x) but I can't tell which processor because of lags when using anything than google chrome)

look through the folder where the programs are installed for a preferences or settings file of some sort.  If there's nothing there, they might be in a local appdata folder. (you can get to the roaming one by typing %appdata%, then navigate from there)  Other than that I'm not sure there's anything you can do.

I'll try my best but I'll get killed if something is lost and it's really hard with the all the lag. Thanks for the advice anyway, wish I knew a bit more about how windows works. I might have to resort to using CMD navigation due to the lag tbh..

If you are going to reinstall Windows on same machine, it will give option to save system files, user files and program files under folder called windows.old. Those will have folders called Program Files, ProgramData and Users and every subfolder for those. Software and config files located to elsewhere will need to be manually backupped.

You can find configs for most software under Users/AppData/Roaming. Thats hidden folder, so you need to enable hidden folders in folder settings.
