Need set-up Critique please!

Hi everyone,

So I'm planning on setting-up a new gaming rig and wanted some feedback first before buying everything to make everything is compatible.

Here's my list:

Case:  Corsair Graphite 760T White Full Tower Case

PROCESSOR: i7 6700k

PSU: Corsair RM100i 80Plus Gold 1000w Modular PSU

HDD: WD Black WD4003FZEX 4TB

SDD: Samsung 850 EVO Series 500gb 2.5in SSD

MOBO: ASUS Maximus VIII Formula* Motherboard

GPU: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 980 Ti Xtreme Gaming 6GB

RAM: Corsair Dominator Platinum CMD16GX4M4A2666C15 16GB(4x4GB) DDR4

I'll be mainly using this for gaming, browsing and movies.

Help/Suggestion please! Thank you!

@A Guy Eating Cereal

I edited the mobo, its  ASUS Maximus VIII Formula* Motherboard.

I was only planning on spending $3000 AUD but this costs $4000AUD. Yes I have all peripherals needed. (4k monitor, ducky shine keyb, razer mamba)

I don't know about the Gigabyte 980 Ti Xtreme Gaming, but the 980 Ti G1 Gaming is supposedly on the louder side. Maybe he was mixing them up.

BTW, with my set-up posted above what PSU do u recommend? Cuz atm I picked the  Corsair RM1000i 80Plus Gold 1000W Modular Power Supply but I feel like its too much? any recommendation? Thanks. @BigDay @tataklee @A Guy Eating Cereal @manikyath @Godlygamer23

Yeah, A 1000W unit is too much. 650W should suffice, including with overclocking included. Bear in mind though that if you do go through with the purchase of the unit, everything will work just fine.

it depends on which gpu you buy. the evga 980 ti classified acx 2.0 draws 300w without an overclock so you will need to factor that in. that's why i recommended a 750w psu with my build.

I might just go 800watts just to play safe. Also i'll be running one of  Thermaltake Riing 120mm RGB Fan 3 Pack with Controller  and a single  Thermaltake Riing 120mm RGB Fan with Controller .. Do I connect this to the PSU or MOBO? I'm scared that I may run out of slots to put it in.

which gpu are you going for? i would get the evga gpu.

i have no idea re the fan pack with controller thing... sorry

Still undecided but I'm leaning more on the  ASUS Maximus VIII Formula* Motherboard because of the RGB ring haha
