Virus changing docs to .exe and hides the document

i already found the hidden files by making hidden files show in the folder options, but i cant make them show. i read in some forums that i should boot into linux then change it there, but i don't have that luxury. so any suggestions guys. and when i try scan those exe files, my AV cant seem to detect it. can i just delete them like a normal file and be done with it?

have you booted in to safe mode and tried to change the extension? They also might be encrypted.
