4790k overclock

I am only able to achieve 4.6 Ghz at 2.29 volts with temps below 90 (high 70s, low 80s) on a hyper 212 evo, it seems like I am able to have 4.7 Ghz at 2.321 volts with temps occasionally spiking up to 90-92. Would it be safe to run the chip a 2.321 volts 24/7, and how good of an overclock was this? This was run in aida64

I personally would never pass 2 volts.

Woo!

Assuming you're not actually running 2+ volts, and all of your 2.xxxv measurements are actually 1.xxxv, then I'd say you are on the low end of the silicon lottery. I personally can do 1.25v, 4.7ghz.

Yes that was what I meant, working nights is getting to me

Would it be safe to run the cpu at 4.7 with 1.321 volts?

Yes, just keep temps under ~85C and all is good.

Yes it would be save to run that voltage. For more on overclocking I would recommend to watch linus's overclocking guide of the 6700k since the 4790k and 6700k are very similar chips

No, nonononono NO.

Platform is completely different, along with 24/7 operating voltages. You can't even run most DDR3 kits with the configurations necessary for Skylake to operate on DDR4, IMC is VASTLY different and no FIVR with Skylake. Why would you recommend a Skylake guide when there are numerous Haswell guides?
