4670k vs 4770k

Is getting a 4770k worth it or shall I just get a 4670k and spend the £80 I saved on a Graphics card?

Or shall I get an Ivy Bridge motherboard and CPU and save money (however I don't really want to move to a dead platform)

Depends on what you are doing. If you're just gaming just the the 4670K.

There's not that much gained from ivy to Haswell. If you can aave some $$ go ivy

If you are not overclocking you can get cheaper Haswell i7 - Xeon e3-1230v3. It doesn't have iGPU and also can't be overclocked:

I recommend Xeon to everybody who doesn't want to overclock INSTEAD of 4770 which is significantly more expensive and only thing that it has is iGPU. Nobody needs iGPU unless you dont have dedicated GPU but that's a different story.

There's not that much gained from ivy to Haswell. If you can aave some $$ go ivy

but the motherboards are so much better on haswell

Thats very true. Z87 is pretty great and prices are pretty low.

If it's only average use, the 4670k will get the job done just fine. However, if it's 'heavier', the 4770k is definitely worth it. Most people think that they need a 4770k because they edit a few videos and images here and there, but the 100$ price difference is not worth it if you only do a little bit of it. The 4670k is still pretty powerful for that, and you'd benefit from putting more money towards the GPU.

I would go with a 4770K since you are doing video rendering. But if you want to save some money, you could go with a 3770K and a P8Z77-V LK board.

I'd say get the 4770k, it renders so damn fast. I render at least 1 10 minute video a day in 1080p and I'm getting like 3-4 minute render times. 720p is even faster.
