What to do when you crack an iPad Air 2

Hello, just cracked my first device (seriously, never before). Had a case on it, an otterbox. Planned to turn it in when I upgrade in less than 3 days. What should I do? Does warranty/AppleCare still cover it? I'm guessing it's worth a lot less now. What would you suggest?

Definitely not covered by any apple warranty or apple care if you had that. You could get the screen replaced if you want to keep using it, or just trade it in as is or consider it to be a sunk cost and move on.

I think I just read somewhere that apple is now accepting devices with cracked screens as trade in for new devices.

Not sure if that only applies to the iphones or also the ipads.

Mystery is the source of all true science.

No. Apple Care Plus covers iPhones, iPads and Apple Watches. If you paid for apple care, then the cost to fix it will be $49. You get two instances of accidental damage.

AppleCare+ covers two incidents of accidental damage, each with a $49 service fee. You can also use our Express Replacement Service to get a replacement even before sending us your iPad. You can check if you have AppleCare+ by entering your iPad serial number.

If you did not purchase Apple Care (seriously, when you buy a device like an iPad just get it it's cheap) then you're looking at

Quote
iPad mini, iPad mini 2: $199
iPad, iPad 2: $249
iPad 3rd generation, iPad 4th generation, iPad Air, iPad mini 3, iPad mini 4: $299
iPad Air 2: $379
iPad Pro: $599

Keep in mind. Apple isn't going to fix the screen. That cost is for a like new replacement. When Apple says like new they mean it. You get a chassis and screen that has never been used before. The only part that's been used are the components inside.

Would I just pick up a screen from iFixit? I already have an iFixit tool kit. I think I might do that instead of turning it in.
