Currently have a Noctua NH-D14, is it worth it to get a liquid cooler?

I currently have an NH-D14 with my 4790k OC'd to 4.6GHz, my temps are good but I'd like to push my chip as far as it can go and I really like the idea of the EK Predator 360 allowing me to add a GPU block if I wanted but I wanted to know if it'd be worth it money, time, or temp wise.

Nh d14 is basically the top end product, you won't see any significant improvement over moving to liquid cooling. OC is limited by the silicon, not your cooler.

What are your highest temps? The NH-D14 is one of the best air coolers out there. It offers pretty much the same cooling as the Corsair H100I. Maybe a bit worse.

The NH is likely quieter and just very slightly hotter than an AIO, not worth the time and money imho.

During AIDA 64 testing, which I know is synthetic but it's easy to test, I was getting upper 70s low 80s.

I like it quieter but I'm not too concerned as I will in effect be taking two fans out of my system and not adding any additional as I'd be replacing case fans with the radiator and fans.

If you have that awesome cooler there is no reason to swap really...

Would only be worth the upgrade if you are getting something beyond a normal 240/280mm cooler. But that is just my personal preference. I am pretty sure that the D14 will be more quiet than any AIO cooler that you can get.

Did the fans spin at 100%? If not, let them. Even an AIO will spin this fast if you have a constant 100% load on your CPU.

Temps won't be that much lower tough, not with only a 360 or 280, 240 will probably be even worse.

I'd definitely be looking at a 360 since the R5 supports it.

Is your 4790K overclocked and is the cooler mounted properly? Because if not, my Siedon 120V only gets to 76^oC after running at full load for hours, and its far from the best AIO.

I wouldn't push your voltage much further than 1.4 volts. It could lower the lifespan of your CPU.

My 4790k is currently clocked to 4.6GHz and I believe it is mounted properly.

The voltage is set to adaptive and peaks around 1.3 volts.

That seems about right then. You'd have to get a decent 240mm radiator to get one that is actually noticeably better than the NH-D14, and a 350mm radiator will definitely keep your 4790K a lot cooler.

I was looking at a 360mm rad, probably the EK Predator 360.

Since the Predator 360 kit comes pre assembled, I'd go with that.
