256gb ssd. m.2 or sata3 ?

so there is a cheap 90$ 240gb from Adata with sata 3. but for 20$ extra I can get a sandisk M.2 ssd.

is it worth 20$ to get the M.2 ?

and is it compatible with my motherboard ? (gd-65 z97 from MSI)

not in this instance, no (unless you happen to be in the rather rare circumstance where you are running out of SATA slots)

 

this M.2 SSD is basically a SATA SDD in the M.2 form factor so there are no speed gains.

As for the OP i would just get the adata one as the m.2 appears to be slower based on the product page.

Sorry. I guess I meant to say, Z97 can't use m.2 as a boot device.
