How could I build a Soldering Iron dock?

Brennan Price

Ok, so I already have a soldering iron but have realised that I need a dock as my last use caused me to melt my desk (even though it was placed on metal) and I burnt my hand quite severely by accidental touch. I have no money at all and want to see what you guys think would be the best solution to my problem.

Thanks, Brennan Price.

I use a glass ashtray when my stand/dock is unavailable (I use that as a microphone stand at times)

If your afraid of burning your table using a piece of ceramic tile is not a bad idea.

Thanks guys, I will take this on board. I will probably make that 'poor mans soldering iron' tonight.

I know some helping hands come with an iron holder, but I would take the holder out and mount it to something heavier if you want it to stay put.

If you can then get a cone and wrap wire around it to make a cone of wire then secure it to a base or the table

Could take a hook and hang the iron, just have to be careful not to touch it.
