Need help on which cables to get

NeonJam

Ok, @Trikein, @beavo451 and @trufret

Lets back up a bit, I currently revive around 70-100mb/s at my house and have a PS4 in the lounge and my computer in my bedroom, I want to wire these into my router. Have I overshot with the cable category if so what's the one I need? Lets forget about the price just tell me what I need and where to get it, I have re-measured and need around 75m but I doubt this will help as it all comes in reels of 100m or 305m from my experience. I will only be connecting those 2 devices with the 2 different runs, so I want a cable that can go 50m without loosing any bandwidth. Also the ability the have 1gb/s would be nice but not necessary. So do I need a cat5e instead or what, thanks.

You can use Cat5, Cat5e, or Cat6. All will provide up to gigabit speeds in a home environment.

You use solid cable for in-wall runs and stranded cable for patch runs (wall jack to device).

You need plenum rated cables if you run it through air vents.

You need outdoor rated cable if the cable goes outside or is exposed to moisture.

If the outdoor cable run is not in a relatively sheltered area (like under an eave), it will need to be in conduit.

.

CAT5 can throttle down to 10/100 under some situations. I suggest sticking with CAT5e or CAT6, specially since CAT5 and CAT5e are just about the same price. Basically Gigabit is backwards compatible with CAT5, but CAT5e was designed for Gigabit. CAT6 can go up to 10Gb, so it gives you room to update later if you want.

I have a drain pipe that I can run the cable up, my house is very tall so about halfway up there is a brick decoration that struts out that I can run it under but its not exactly going to prevent water from running over it when it rains would this be better than running it under the gravel? @beavo451

Whichever ones are out door rated. You don't need shielded cable. And just because it's shielded doesn't mean that it is outdoor rated.

They all are outdoor rated, so I should just go with the cheapest?

Whichever Cat 6 that is cheapest will work. If you aren't going to do conduit, then I would suggest splurging on one of the armored ones.
