Welcome to Weeks 9/10 of the LTT Build-Off! The rules and guidelines can be found here.

This week's challenge is to make a partlist with a green and grey/gunmetal/silver color scheme with the added stipulation of using Nvidia GPUs only. You can use any form factor, and peripherals are required. You have a budget of a whopping $3,000!

Tips:

  • You have a huge budget. This is one of the few builds where you won't be constrained by money. Go crazy!
  • A custom watercooling loop will be great for your color scheme and awesomeness factor, but don't leave out any components. For example, if you don't have a pump in your loop, your build will be disqualified.
  • This was suggested to me as an Nvidia Fanboy build, and while I have changed it to be broader, Nvidia is still required (which fits in with the color scheme).

The contest will run from Friday September 6th to Thursday September 12th, with the 10th, 11th, and 12th reserved for voting.

UPDATE: voting is live, but since I was late in making the poll and we have a lot of entries, this contest has been extended one week. Thursday the 19th is the last day of voting.

I would've went with a custom cooler on the 780's for a only a few dollars more but the green GTX logo on the side of the reference coolers just goes so well with this colour scheme. Also paint the rings on all of the Corsair fans green, there's still $28 left over, I'm sure that's enough to buy some cheapo paint and a brush.

It didn't add the link to the sleeved cables so I just added my own link in the "other" section. Also the DeathAdder is shown with a blue LED in the picture, you can turn this LED off so it doesn't clash with colour scheme.

I decided to go with a super small form factor water cooled build because it seems to me like the wisest thing to do in terms of being small quiet and all round easy to transport or move around.

The first step to insanity is believing in your sanity.

I am not sure how to put the part list in a neat list on the page like others have done, if someone could tell me how I would be happy to.

CPU: Best gaming CPU on the market ATM!
CPU cooler: OC that i5 as high as you want, this guy will keep it cool and safe! Also I included a 2-pack of Corsair SP120s, for even better cooling.
MoBo: Green, awesome on-board audio, good price. That defines the Killer series from Gigabyte.
RAM: The sexiest RAM modules on the world. 1600mhz CL9.
SSD: 256GB, used as a boot drive.
HDD: 2TB for mass storage.
GPUs: 2 780s in SLI. Ultimate horsepower to destroy every current or future game. Also those green illuminated logos are so sexy!
Case: The best mATX case on the market with plenty of ventilation and a large transparent window to admire the components for $2500. Also it is pretty compact, so you don't need any help moving it around.
PSU: 760W with platinum efficiency and full modularity. Also it's Seasonic, so you know you're getting the best. If I assebled this system, I'd surely add some Bitfenix Alchemy green sleeved cables, but I couldn't find that on pcpartpicker.

Monitor: 24" IPS panel, 1920x1200, so you have a slightly higher field of view, which is never bad.
Keyboard: Green illuminated mechanical keyboard, made by Razer, so you know it's good and it matches other things on the table.
Mouse: Razer Deathadder 2013, the best mouse for FPS games, also it's green!
Headphones: I know what most of you think about Razer headsets, but I had personal experience with these on a gaming convention, when the session ended I wanted to keep them, they were so good and comfortable! Also they look freaking awesome with that heli pilot design!

My rig: CPU: Intel core i5 4670K MoBo: MSI Z87-G45 Gaming RAM: Kingston HyperX Beast 2x4GB 1600mhz CL9 GPU: EVGA GTX780 SC ACX SSD: ADATA Premier Pro SP900 256GBHDD: Western Digital RED 2TB PSU: FSP Aurum CM 750W Case: Cooler Master HAF XM OS: Windows 8 Pro

Parts Explained:
I went with a 4770K because it is better for folding and rendering, and the specific use case for this computer wasn't given. I chose the G1.Sniper for its awesome green looks, great onboard audio, and the extra x8 slot at the bottom which allows for extra space between cards in SLI, which the 350D supports because it has 5 expansion slots, allowing for maximum expandability. The Dominator Plats are there because they look awesome and perform great I went with 16GB in case this build would be used for video editing and also so the Samsung RAM caching software that comes with the 840 EVO would have enough room. I gave it dual 250GB Samsung EVO SSDs for both speed and capacity. The front radiator in the 350D also would interfere with hard drives, so the SSDs would be "ghetto-mounted" on the back of the motherboard tray. For extra storage, the user could use an external hard drive. I chose a 780 because it's Nvidia, all around  a great video card for 2560x1440 resolutions and has lots of rendering power. The case was a tough decision, but I ended up choosing the Corsair 350D for its watercooling ability, 5 expansion slots, and great minimalistic looks. I chose Cougar fans because they're actually quite underrated, run well with rads, are quiet, and look great. I went with an Cooler Master PSU because they have awesome power supplies, it is semi-modular, and it has enough power for SLI. For peripherals, I went all-Razer because I know that they make great peripherals and they are all green in colour. For tubing, I chose PrimoChill because it matches the board great and Linus highly recommends it. For fittings, I went with XSPC chrome fittings because they look great for a relatively low price. For a reservoir, I chose the Alphacool because there wasn't really room in the case for a traditional pump and res and if the top ODD bay is populated, you can't mount a top radiator. I chose the MCP355 pump because it was compatible with the Alphacool reservoir and had decent reviews. For radiators, I chose Alphacool NexXxos because they have minimalistic looks and are full copper. I chose a UT60 for in the front because there is plenty of room in the front for radiators and 60mm radiators provide great performance/mm. I put a ST30 in the top simply because anything thicker interferes with the motherboard. I went with XSPC blocks for a uniform, minimalistic look and high performance cooling. For a monitor, I went with the same monitor I am currently using- a Qnix QX2710 perfect pixel monitor. It is 1440p, has one of the best semi-gloss finishes I've ever seen, and is overclockable (it runs well at 96Hz). Best of luck to everyone!

Is this still a gaming build or it should be good for everything?

It isn't a dedicated build for a purpose. It will end up being powerful enough to do anything decently, so don't worry about optimizations for gaming or workstation loads.

JUST under budget :D

The RAM is the same green color as the motherboard!

Push-pull on the H100i with the rest of the case fan mounts loaded.  WQHD display for that sexy black/grey w/green lit GTX 780.  The PSU has a grey and black surface around the fan.  Razer 2013 peripherals including green Kraken headphones.

I really don't like green, so this wasn't my favorite challenge.  I chose to make a green an accent for the most part, with lighting and RAM being the only bits with green in them.  Everything is Matte black and grey.
