Windows 10 product key

Hoads2047

Hi,

I upgraded my laptop to win 10 and i saw that a family member had a copy of it as well.

i changed my product key to that and now i cannot change it back.

the Activate windows watermark in really irritating me.

so is there a way to change the product key back without reinstalling and/or using the recovery method?

many thanks!

@Hoads2047 follow your posts

First, you have to get your activation ID.

  1. Go into command prompt and type:
    slmgr /dlv

  2. A window should come up with a bunch of info, take note of the activation ID

To uninstall your key:

  1. Go back into command prompt and type:
    slmgr /upk <activation ID>

To install a new key:

slmgr /ipk <license key>

Here, use this key.

YTMG3-N6DKC-DKB77-7M9GH-8HVX7

it's a generic key and will only work on PCs that have upgraded to 10 before.

Then you need to contact your system administrator for activation problems. This key is for Windows 10 Home. There was no way you used the free upgrade to get Education.
