muh specs 

Gaming and HTPC (reparations)- ASUS 1080, MSI X99A SLI Plus, 5820k- 4.5GHz @ 1.25v, asetek based 360mm AIO, RM 1000x, 16GB memory, 750D with front USB 2.0 replaced with 3.0  ports, 2 250GB 850 EVOs in Raid 0 (why not, only has games on it), some hard drives

Screens- Acer preditor XB241H (1080p, 144Hz Gsync), LG 1080p ultrawide, (all mounted) directly wired to TV in other room

Stuff- k70 with reds, steel series rival, g13, full desk covering mouse mat

All parts black

Workstation(desk)- 3770k, 970 reference, 16GB of some crucial memory, a motherboard of some kind I don't remember, Micomsoft SC-512N1-L/DVI, CM Storm Trooper (It's got a handle, can you handle that?), 240mm Asetek based AIO, Crucial M550 256GB (upgrade soon), some hard drives, disc drives, and hot swap bays

Screens- 3  ASUS VN248H-P IPS 1080p screens mounted on a stand, some old tv on the wall above it. 

Stuff- Epicgear defiant (solderless swappable switches), g600, moutned mic and other stuff. 

Laptop docking area- 2 1440p korean monitors mounted, one AHVA matte, one samsung PLS gloss (very annoying, yes). Trashy Razer blackwidow chroma...I mean like the J key doesn't click anymore. I got a model M i use on it to, but its time for a new keyboard. Some edgy Utechsmart mouse similar to g600. Hooked to laptop dock for both of my dell precision laptops. (not only docking area)

Shelf- i7-2600 non-k (has vt-d), 380t, some ASUS sandy itx board, intel quad nic. Currently hosts shared files, setting up as pfsense box in VM. Also acts as spare gaming PC with a 580 or whatever someone brings. Hooked into laptop dock area via usb switch

I hate CS:GO because all the comp cunts come into the plebeian games and get mad when they're "carrying the team" or whatever.

Most people  picture valve as a good guy, but really they suck as a company, they are not your friend they just want your money, just because they made games you love doesn't mean they should be seen in such a favorable light, to me they are just morphing into the next EA, but at least some people have stopped drinking the koolaid

Theres a difference though, CSGO has a HUGE economy and they have no way of knowing if the mod will allow you to spawn 300 skins or not...

 

But yea better systems need to be in place

they COULD just disable spawns in private servers like any sane company would do but NOOO

Some of us just want to play the fucking game and do custom servers and have fun!
 

I appreciate it has a BIG competitive following, but you dont have to shit on everyone else too

I too subscribe to this point of view.

That can be said for a lot of other games as well...mobas in particular.

I mean... competetive games are just a type of game. Same as you enjoying an RPG i would enjoy being better than an enemy player in a personnel way. Its just a type of game.

Counter strike started as a mod.. as in a completely stand-alone mod for half-life.  You didn't join a half life multiplayer game with a 'cs mod'.  It was an entirely separate game you had to download that ran off half-life.

 

Valve makes a crapload of money off cs:go, with people paying astronomical sums of money for some of the weapon skins, and that whole item drop system.  I can see why they would be against servers that just let players have that crap for free, even if it is temporary.

 

I'm not defending valve.  I find the whole micro transaction thing in modern games disgusting.  Paying for dlc or 'expansions' is disgusting.  I'm just saying that comparing the game mod to a server mod isn't the same.

CS:GO go to serious for me. I'm not a shit player by any means and can carry teams but sometimes I want to goof around (that is why it's called CASUAL matches). But even in casual people go cray cray if you aren't trying your hardest to win. Bitch plz...

 

I miss the 1.6 days where there were knives-only games and infected serves (surf can go f* itself). Yes they still do exist still but not as many.

I don't even play CS:GO anymore, started playing 1.5 long ago, then got into 1.6 a bit and kind of dropped off in source.  One of my favorite things to do was to download replacement, high-rez skins and models to replace the in-place assets because I thought it was cool you could customize things to your liking and not affect the core gameplay.  Now, Valve is apparently up in arms that people are able to play with whatever skins they want via mods but aren't paying Valve for cases/keys or buying/trading them through the marketplace.  As always, it seems their main motives are money-related, and IMO less so the competitive side of things.  That's how this whole issue comes off to me at least; they don't care if people make a private server with noclip, low gravity, etc but once you start letting players play with things that they would otherwise need to pay for, that's the real travesty that they must come down on.

 

And all of this while Gabe still says that it doesn't make much "business sense" to make the next installment of Half Life; the game that put them on anybody's radar in the first place.  Yes, let's leave HL2 ep. 2 where it left off in the story while we sell knives and hats and rake in all the money from kids taking their mom's credit cards to open cases.  A true champion of the gamers, indeed...

It is not so much a negative as a market opportunity for someone else to come in and compete.

Yeah i can honestly say i don't really enjoy myself in CSGO, however for competitive it has that, it's not a game i play for fun as it simply has a dog shit community.

They will realise there mistakes.  In fact, they are making a lot of mistakes right now.  Just crossing my fingers that the next game they release that has a 3 in it isn't a complete screw up.
