When I first was getting a new computer awhile ago when I was like 8. Started really slow at first, but interest spiked after I discovered Austin Evans and then Linus.

 

lol I'd say that most of Austin Evan's video are towards beginners, maybe even introduction.

About age 13. But I spent a long time as an AMD fanboy with a 5800K and no dGPU until I was met in late 2013/2014 by a friend I'd made, who was far more knowledgeable about computers than I was. I was a fool, I resisted, I didn't want to be told that AMD was sub-par, I wanted to believe that the mountain of numbers that AMD processors had stacked against Intel CPUs would overwhelmingly crush matters of architectural efficiency. But my friend, bless him, he was patient, he was kind. But he was firm, and hammered the facts into my head until they stuck. Then he introduced me to Tek Syndicate and LinusTechTips, which is what really started my period of growth to the PC masterrace. Then my little brother played a copy of Portal that our cousin had given him, and we both soon learned of the Benevolent Lord of the GloriousPCGamingMasterrace, Gaben and of his Gift to Mankind which is Steam and the Sales thereof. Then I went to Japan, where I spent what money I had on convenience store snacks, trips to Akihabara and components for a powerful gaming PC. Now, over a year later, I have expanded my knowledge beyond that of my friend, have increased my status and standing on this forum by imparting my knowledge and assistance to those who ask for it, and meanwhile have become an avid gamer of titles.

 

And I evolved into an Internet Fox Loli. And I'm now going to hug you.

I really wouldn't call computers a "passion." I love to tinker on them, passion is a pretty strong word though.

 

In any case, I've messed around with tech/PCs my whole life. Helps to grow up around them.

When I got fed up with consoles. Although in hindsight the real problem was BF4 being a massive pile of sh*t.

 

Still, I don't regret my choice, and am enjoying myself.
