I just want a cheap minimalist keyboard. No bells and whistles, just blue switches and full metal construction.

From what i saw the actual board is small but the electronics are bugger. Even if i'm wrong what the hell people like you need a keyboard that is less than a millimeter thin i think its time we all got real for a moment and start putting money towards things that actually matter when it comes to technologie. If my tablets keyboard has to be 1-7mm thick what do I really care and if for some unknown reason I can't fit a keyboard in my backpack unless its as thin as a piece of paper then maybe i just don't get to have one.

sorry laser keyboard already exist and they are thinner than 1mm

btw this could be usefull in lets say a notebook so you get more space for components inside or what ever.

Not a fan of these types of devices. I see no point in replacing a touchscreen keyboard with a flat plastic one with no tactile feedback.

yes currently it s totally useless but think about all the space a regular keyboard use on a laptop.

put this in instead and you can make a smaller laptop or have more space for cooling so you could make it quieter.

granted i always use a quickfire rapid kb with my laptop because i don t like the stock one but i think many people wouldn t mind a subpar keyboard if it meant better portability (think netbook,saving up screen space by not having a virtual kb is important on a 11" screen)

Its not mechanical so I don't care.

Not everything HAS TO be mechanical. I know they are far superior, but people don't drive Ferraris in the middle of the city when a smart car is a better option! Each to their own is the way I see it, and mechanical isn't always the best!

Mechanical is the best. There is no drawback other than the price. Portability is not a downside of mechanical keyboards as you can get small mechanical keyboards.

The 4930k is one of the best chips out there right now, but would you recommend it in every build? There's sometimes when the best doesn't fit or just plain doesn't work! I'm not saying Mechanical aren't the best, I'm jst arguing usage.

That is a very fair statement however the only situation I wouldn't use a mechanical keyboard is if I needed it for portable use. However I am sure one day there will be a mechanical switch that is smaller so that it could be used in a small sized keyboard.

the size of the switch is what makes it different. they can t make it much smaller in terms of height.

also mechanical switches will always be heavier than just a membrane no way around that.

that paper thin kb just is more practical in portable use than any mechanical kb but i don t rly see the need to go that small.

scissor keys are small enough. and lets face it you won t write a 5000 page book on a mobile device it s only used for short things in that scenario i see no reason to go mechanical.

(btw i own 2 mech kbs i m not saying they re bad just not intended for portable use. but i do use a cm rapid for my laptop tho... )
