Folding murdered my battery

I'm no expert on Chromebooks but I folded on this thing for about 4-5 days on medium-full power in the chrome F@H App thing, but now my battery doesn't charge and it's as if there's no battery installed in it. I've done the Battery_test in crosh (pic below) and it's health is pretty low, I'm not sure if folding could have caused my battery life to decline as rapidly as it did but, this will make me think twice on F@H on full on a cheap Chromebook. Lucky I shouldn't have to pay it since I didn't do any physical damage and the school will most likely cover it. Who know's maybe it was just a defective battery.post-253789-0-85540500-1453595213.png

 

Add on - Just did Battery_Test and the health went up to 33.03% but percentage is still stuck at 1%

I doubt that would happen so fast, probably the battery was defective

weird that it killed it while it was plugged in. unless it was drawing power from it and the wall at the same time.. folding does take a bit of power

I'm not sure why people are ripping on the OP when the laptop could've been plugged in - folding should not kill a battery. It will deplete it sure, but kill it? The laptop will shut off before that.

Draining higher current from the battery than it was designed to deliver would in fact damage it quite quickly, but the designers should have used an appropriately rated battery...

I'm on the chromebook as we type, when It was plugged in during folding it still charged up. But yesterday out of nowhere it was just diddily dead and would only turn on with a charger plugged in and will not charge up anymore

I don't think it was from folding, but of course I'm not sure. But yeah just get a new battery, that one is screwed.

It could have been damaged by excessive heat, too high of a drain rate, or from draining it much further than it is designed to go.  None of that should be possible without editing unusual settings however, since the device should naturally prevent these situations by throttling, turning off, or something of that nature.

So unless it was poorly designed and/or programmed from the factory, I'm betting you just had a bad battery and that the folding didn't destroy it at all.

Folding can damage batteries in laptops... over say a year or two of constant folding, but not in a few days. You have a defective battery.
