WD Red 4TB GIVEAWAY!

LinusTech

I run a trow it together desktop, with a 160gb WD boot drive pulled from a Dell computer and a 320gb WD blue mass storage and pulled from a Dell as well, both in which in ide mode. I have the slow 160gb boot drive because i don't have any other way of storing my files to re-install windows 7 to the 320gb drive, than a 320gb for Steam library's, music, pictures and 3d modeling files. It gets the job done right the first time no complaint.

I am using a Samsung 840 500GB SSD as my Operating System/Steam drive, and a Western Digital 2TB Black as my storage. I like this configuration because of the speed of the SSD and the size of the HDD, why I chose this setup was from reading and watching reviews on the products, and I love it.

CPU: Intel Core i5 3570k @ 4.8GHz     Motherboard: ASUS P8Z77-V Pro     RAM: 16GB Kingston 1600MHz (2x8GB)      GPU: Zotac GTX 1070 Mini 8GB

SSD: Samsung 840 500GB       HDD: Western Digital Black 2TB      HDD: Western Digital Blue 1TB    HDD: Seagate 2TB     PSU: Corsair RM850 Fully Modular       Case: BitFenix Shinobi Windowed

At the moment I have a Corsair Force GT 120GB, a 2TB Seagate something or other, I had a 500GB WD Blue, but it died for some reason, and a WD 320GB Blue but im in the procces of recovering the partition table, cuz it died when the 500GB did.

P.S. both the 500GB and the 320GB were in the same laptop, when the laptop died so did the drives.

To match the performance of my rig, i purchased a 120gb SSD from OCZ solely for the boot times and snappy desktop performance.  I can load windows along with my main programs that i use on that capacity.  To compensate for the lack of space for gaming, i purchased an external 3tb usb 3.0 hard drive.  I do a bunch of moving around with my external from computer to computer and that was the main reason i bought it.  It has ample space for backups, games, movies, and other programs along with the speed i like (roughly 150mbps avg).  On my home media computer, i put on 3 x 2tb seagate barracudas.  The first for the boot drive and media storage, and the other two in RAID 1 so i can further backup my computers at home.  I bought those three because they were on sale along with a $10 rebate.  They have a bunch of space and very nice performance to accommodate my home media pc.  I hope i followed the correct format as i have more plans for fixing up servers and others to set up for friends and they're short on ca$h for drives.

Extra info :P

So here is my set up I got a 256 ocz vertex 4 for boot drive, 1 tb seagate optical of internal storage for games, and a 4tb external seagate backup plus for movies and music. The SSD boot drive gives me awesome start up times and i went with the 1tb because it was a left over from previous computer. The backup plus has all my media on it for going back and forth from college. Psssst Linus i want one of those drives so i can keep media local on my PC help a brother out!

Its awsome and I hope to win.

I have a 750 GB harddrive in my laptop right now. I will love to build a GamingPC but I dont have the money right now, When I do I will probably get a 1 or 2 TB WD Blue with a 250GB Samsung 840 evo SSD. I also have a 500GB Segate Slim external hard drive that I love, its USB 3.0 and super fast and portable.

Thank you Mr Linus

1x 160GB OCZ Vertex II SSD

2x 1TB Samsung Spinpoint F3

1x 4TB Seagate HDD

I started out with just one of the 1TB drives as my boot/storage drive then bought another one once I realized that I needed more space for my games, programs and movies. Used one for boot/programs/games and the other for music/movies/media. My friend upgraded his ssd and sold me his old one for a bargain so that's where the ssd came from and the 4TB Seagate is an external HDD that I got on sale and stripped down to put in my case. So now I'm running boot/programs/games on SSD. Other programs/games/documents on one of the 1TB which along with the SSD backs up to the other 1TB drive. And the 4TB is my movies/media drive now which I really should be backing up...

My main rig is running 2 x 128GB Crucial M4 SSDs in RAID0 and a 1TB WD Black. I know running SSDs in RAID0 is a bit overkill, but I was running out of space on my single M4, so why not RAID another for maximum e-peen?

I also have a NAS box frankensteined from my old machine, running a 2TB WD Green, 3TB WD Green, and 2 x 3TB WD Red. One drive is for parity so i have a total of 8TB usable.

I run a Sandisk Extreme 240GB for my OS and main games im playing i also run 2 Segate barracuda XT's 1- is a 2TB 7200RPM 64mb and the other is 1-3tb 7200RMP 64mb. Im currently running this setup due to a very large steam library and i also run most of my files in a server configuration for my house that i live in. I would love to upgrade my Segate drives someday to higher capacity drives so the 4tb drives would be awesome since my PC is run around the clock already anyway.

I'm running 1TB WD black for internal storage and some random 2.5" drives laying around for random projects and backups. I picked the Black up from reviews online and the random 2.5" drives are just from dead or old laptops in case I need something with higher cap than a flash drive or something like that. I'm using one for Wii game backups and another for saved steam downloads and the rest are just filled with media and old school stuff.

I have a 500GB wd blue. It is fast and reliable (not as fast as an ssd) but not enough memory to fit all my steam games in.

I have 1 x 120gb mushkin ssd for OS, all utilities, and 1~2 games for fast boot-up and better performance overall. For storage, I have 2  x 7 years old 320gb samsung harddrives + 128 gb hard drives from old PC and netbook, because hard drives are STILL so expensive and I cannot afford new ones!!

In my main rig I am currently using a 120GB Samsung 840 EVO as my boot drive, my main storage drive for all my games, movies and music is a 1TB Seagate 7200RPM and last but not least is my faithful 80GB Seagate 5400RPM drive that I salvaged from my dead Ps3. I use the 80GB drive mostly for backups of my game profiles and other important stuffs ;-) .
