desktop - fusion drive (hybrid rust + ssd)

laptop 1 - Samsung 256GB SSD 830

laptop 2 - crucial CT128M225 128GB

NAS  - netgear readynas, seagate drives X4 (2TB each)

I now use SSD in my main day to day rigs for speed - snappiness of response for applications and what not. Things like photo editing, film i tend to do on the faster rigs with SSD.

I use spinning rust in my NAS as it was cheaper at the time  and has all my files/music/films/photos in RAID for the long run- once. MLC drops further and we can quantify the lifeline and storage capacity in > than 5 years and > 1TB per unit respectively I will look to switch.

Oh I do use Violin (32TB SLC and 64 MLC) at work but i dont think this really applies here:)

My storage setup is a 320GB HDD (on a laptop) I back my stuff up onto somebody else's 500GB (I think) external drive. I use a 320GB HDD because that's what my laptop came with and that's what I could afford at the time. I barrow the external drive when my laptop HDD get's to full. (which it pretty much always is) Planning on using a 1TB HDD and a 128GB SSD in the future, HDD for storage, and SSD for boot and games.

1. Hi Linus. I have a 256gb ssd in my main system. I can only install one or 2 games on it as i dont have much space on it. I did just have a 1tb Storage drive beck from sata 1 and it recently jsut died. That was was a backup of my ghetto rigged homemade 320gb external drive. right now my family pictures, videos and computer software and licenses isnt safe if that drive dies. I was hoping to centralize my storage one day to have it all in one location, but just cannot afford it.

Im running 2x 1TB WD blues, 120gb corsair Geforce SSD, and a 300gb WD laptop HDD.

The reason, well because you can never have to much space? or im just looking future wise at with stuff i may possible have or need in the long run. To be honest i think i have to much HDD space, but still its better to be safe then sorry with data

I'm running three Corsair Force Series 3 240GB in RAID 0, because I could get them for fairly cheap at the time, and a 1TB Western Digital RE4 drive for my precious data storage. I also have a WD My Book World for back-ups but it's only 1TB.

so i have a corsair GT 120GB ssd and a 10GB free partition and a 32 flash drive with all my word and excel doc... WHY you ask bc i spent all my money on a in-win D frame RED, AX 850 with RED cables, a ROG Z77 Motherboard, 3770K, and a ausu GTX 680 and after i put the SSD in my cart i was $200 over what i wanted to spend and i didnt really want to put anything back so i got everything and then didnt eat for a month. i sooooo want to do a custom water loop in this d-frame then i might do something about the storage.

I'm using a 500GB harddrive on my custom Sony Gaming Laptop. Although I am currently working on a gaming PC with a Kingston HyperX 3k 120GB SSD and a WD Caviar Blue 1TB I'm currently rocking this setup with the laptop because at the point when bought I was at a period in my life were I moved a lot and I didn't think I'd use up much more than 400GB, I'm gonna rock the PC in the future because I've passed that point in my life and I'm more stationary now and I'll be putting W7 and BF4 on that SSD and I'll use the 1TB HDD to store everything else.

I love giveaways!!

Currently I am running a Seagate Momentous XT 500 gb hybrid drive for my boot drive and the programs i use most. I also have 2 HDD's, a 500gb and a 250gb for storage of my movies music and documents. I have chosen this setup because with the Momentous XT i get the speed of an ssd for the price and storage of a HDD while having the two other drives for important documents and files backing up to each other every night.

Hmm I'm running a generic 500GB 5400rpm HDD that I recovered from an old computer... I had a bunch of stuff to upgrade first (Power supply, case, GPU etc.) and now i'm thinking of buying either a 128-256 GB SSD, or a larger capacity HDD. Of course, with a 4TB WD red, that would be plenty of storage so I could buy a 128GB SSD, and both of the storage AND speed problem would be solved!

Thanks again WD for these giveaway, we appreciate it!

I am using a Samsung 840 Pro SSD 128GB as a boot drive and program drive. I have a 1TB WD Black games drive (for origin and steam, that i've filled up) and some 750GB Laptop drive I threw in to try to store more. I have another 1TB WD Black drive for Hackintosh things, which again is kind of filled up.

I got the WD drives on recommendation of my friend who helped pick parts for my PC, I got the 840 Pro because it came with Borderlands 2 + AC3, also because I've heard good things about the drive.

I'm running out of space and the WD external I had died so I can't use it anymore. I should probably try to replace that though.

I have 2 x 240GB Mushin Chronos Deluxe SSDs (RAID 0) for my OS and some games, plus 4 x 180GB Intel 330 SSDs (RAID 0) for mostly games plus douments. I'm using this configuration for its speed. For backups I have an external USB 3.0  3TB Seagate hard drive, and I keep media on an internal 2TB Samsung Spinpoint hard drive.

I would like to win this because I am planning on building my PC in mid October, and winning this could save me enough money to go from getting a 760 to a 770. I currently I have a 300GB hard drive in my laptop which is running fairly outdated hardware, and AMD Anthlon II dual core m300 x2 and an HD 4200 on the M880G chip set. The newest drivers for the 4200 are in 2006, so as you can tell, when I build this new pc, every penny will count. I shared this on twitter as well, however with my luck, I was in twitter jail at the time I saw the video, so I had to tweet it on my back up account. I will be sure to tweet it on my main account ASAP and will edit this post if possible showing it. https://twitter.com/Master_Wanky2/status/377930820960657408 I am relatively new to PC's so in the event that I have messed up on describing my current specs, I have attached a picture showing the specs in device manager. Thanks Linus, and hope I win :D

Out of Twitter jail, posted it on personal.

Wow there are a lot of posts! Might as well try anyway? xD

So I recently built my new PC right as the GTX 700 series came out. I currently have a Samsung 840 120gb SSD and an old 256 2.5 laptop drive xD
The SSD is amazing and I am so glad I got it. While it isn't the fastest SSD out there and it doesn't have a lot of storage, it was a great buy for $85 on sale! My comp boots up within 10 sec or so which is amazing for me (and I haven't overclocked ram/cpu or anything).

I used to have two old 1.5tb Seagate Barracuda drives (circa 2008). After I built my new computer I was using one for storage and another externally for backup... until they both failed on me within two days :( I've reverted to using an old laptop HDD as storage for my games but right now my SSD and HDD are filled up until I can get new big drives!

I'm also running on no backups right now because my backup drive was one of those Barracudas! It would be amazing to get some new drives for free xD otherwise I'll have to save up some money for some good drives cause I'd rather not spend money now on a cheaper drive that may fail within a year or two.

Every computer I've owned has been either store bought or built on a el' cheapo budget. Currently I run a 1TB WD Blue that I bought on sale because it was cheap. I really needed to upgrade because before that I was running a 500GB I don't even know drive that I freed from an external hard drive to make it faster. Before all of this, I used to run a 600GB Hitatchi IDE drive, but I have since retired that drive because nobody uses IDE. I'd really like to start a digital library. I'd put movies, music, photos, etc. on there, and these WD Reds would be perfect!
