I just built a new haswell system and my storage configuration is as follows:

Desktop

2* 120gb Kingston HyperX 3k ssd's [RAID 0]

  • These are both for booting windows some programs which will benefit from the higher speed like Google sketchup which i use for case mod planning and the larger triple A titles to speed up load times.
  • I got these when they had gone on offer in the UK at 60 pounds sterling, I couldn't wait on the Samsung EVO SSD's.

1* 1tb WD Green

  • I use this drive for critical data and my larger files like movies, music, pictures and some games(games that i don't mind waiting for like older games and smaller ones that would have minor improvements on an ssd).
  • The reason i am using this drive is that it came out of an external enclosure that i broke; so instead of buying a new enclosure i made it my main storage drive in my desktop to save some money.

Laptop

500gb Seagate momentus XT

  • This drive is used for everything on my laptop from lite games to programs.
  • I use this drive for college so it holds various software development tools and i back up all my data using Dropbox, Google Drive and Skydrive.

I also have a Samsung 2.5" 1tb drive in a USB3 enclosure which i use for file transfers to friends and to backup college work.

I have plans to make my own server/NAS box using 3-4 of these drives in raid 5 but i must first save up some spending money, I'm still broke after buying the new PC .

At the moment, I'm running a 120GB 840 EVO SSD. It was all I could afford at the time of building (last week), and I really wanted to try the legendary SSD speed. I've already filled up 90% of my drive, so I'd love 4TB!

Running 4 x 15k Seagate SAS 146GB in Raid 0 for my OS (About to experiment with 2x msata ssd in raid 0 adaptor).

Storage is 2x 500gig SAS drives (Raid 0 since they are only 7200rpm drives)

Games on another Raid 0 array (2x 10k SAS) for speed

Why SAS...got them cheap from a local auction sight (reboxed Dell gear)

Why 4x SAS in raid 0. To see what they would perform like while waiting on my ssd order to ship.Windows thinks they are ssd's ??? and disables defrag & prefetch etc

Go figure :)

Hooked upto Perc H800.

I've got a 2TB WD green for a few reasons, firstly the space for games and movies, secondly its cheap and finally because an ssd is not at a $ per gig rate that I find worthwhile.

So, my current setup is 1 x Scandisc SSD 120gb 2x Seagate 1tb Drives.

I chose the SSD, cause it was quick for the booting and general system operations. I have the 2 other 1 TB drives, one is for storage and my games and the other drive is to record to, as it is essential to record to a non system style HDD. Im currently running out of space, and would be a great help to be able to win either 1st or second prize!

Ive added in the links to my twitter and facebok for proof!

I'm currently using a Kingston SSDNow 120GB as my boot drive, and a WD Desktop blue 500GB as a "mass" storage drive. I bought these drives because SSDs really make the OS a lot faster, both when booting, and when I'm using the computer. I bought a WD Blue because I needed some storage for my games, and my movies and such. I feel like the storage drive is too small, as I need lots of space for all my games (Yay for summer sale and humblebundle :D). I also am seeing that the WD Blue is a bit too slow for me, it takes me quite a while to load levels in games. Overall I have a good impression of Western Digital HDDs, they have nice build quality, and, well, they work as they're supposed to! I think a RAID setup with the WD Red drives would be a huge upgrade for my computer.

I have a very old system running. (old enough to have dying parts, many issues)

3x 2TB Internal Drives (mix of Seagate and WD)

2x 1TB Internal Drives (mix of WD)

1x 2TB External Drive (WD)

All in a non raid config. It's a dying system that I am using a media server, needing to build a new one. Those 4TB reds would be awesome.

1.  I run a Kingston 120GB SSD boot drive with a Seagate 500GB Drive for program and user document storage. I also have a 1 TB drive for steam games. I originally have another drive for boot the looked into a SSD for installing my OS on. I came across the Kingston SSD while reading about them in a magazine called PC & Tech Authority. This setup has increased my running speed greatly. I have been loving it ever since I upgraded.

I´m about to set up an 24/7 Fileserver so I desperately need some fast and cool running hard drives for it, a WD red or even 2 would be great!

In my main pc, I´m currently using a 128GB Samsung SSD for OS and important software and a SanDisk Extreme 480GB for Games.

I have a 2TB of storage total, a Seagate Barracuda 1TB and a Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB which I record videos to. At the time I built my computer, I was looking for cheap drives and Seagate was for a good price while I prefer WD. Recording videos to the same drive that I played off of gave horrible fps, so the reviews of Caviar Black looked good and it has been a good drive for storage and writing big files to.

I currently have the following hard drives:
3.5" 80GB WD Blue from my old desktop to be used as Linux boot drive.
2.5" 750GB Seagate Momentus XT (7200 rpm Hybrid SSD + HDD) that is currently in my laptop.
2.5" 640GB Hitachi (5400 rpm HDD) that originally came with my laptop. It's currently sitting in a box on my shelf.
________________________________________________________________________________________________________

In my build I plan to buy a 128GB SSD for Windows and a few programs/games.
Below are some configurations I was thinking of:

A. 128GB SSD boot + 640GB Hitachi for storage
B. 128GB SSD boot + 750GB Seagate for storage (and put the Hitachi in my laptop)
C. 128GB SSD boot + 1TB Seagate Barracuda (which I will have to purchase) for storage + 640GB Hitachi for extra storage

Right now i'm running a WD blue 500GB for my boot and OS drive, and I have a 2TB seagate expansion drive for backups of mine and my sisters pc's.

The external drive is new I bought it because I believe backups are very important.

The reason for the WD drive, was at the time (3 years ago) ssd's were very expensive and since i needed a lot of space for my games and other files I went with it.

Saving money right now and will get an SSD soon, will use it as boot drive with most of my applications.
