Modifying a car stereo for an aux port

EIijah

First off I wasn't sure where to post so I picked off-topic because it isn't strictly computer related

So I bought a car and the CD player doesn't have an auxiliary port so I read that you can wire one onto the cd players left and right out wire/solder points. Only trouble is mine doesn't have obvious marks as to what it is (most have LOUT and ROUT) I'm not sure if anyone is good with this stuff as to what markings can mean, so if there is anything else that can signify left and right out please tell me. I can take picture, I just don't have a high enough quality one to take a picture of the entire thing properly.

CPU: i5-4690K @ 4.0GHz GPU: Gigabyte Gtx 970 WindForce MOBO: Gigabyte Z97 Gaming-3 CASE: Corsair Carbide 200R PSU: Corsair RM750

RAM: Corsair Vengeance 4GBx4  MOUSE: CM Mizar KEYBOARD: Logitec G110

You can honestly pay like $40 and get a aftermarket stereo that has AUX, Bluetooth, a better onboard AMP, and probably a ton more features.

Please spend as much time writing your question, as you want me to spend responding to it.  Take some time, and explain your issue, please!

$40 is too much for me for the next few months :P

and why pay $40 if I don't have to

Depending on the dashboard, you may need a dash kit as well and those would add $20 more or so.

Okay, so here is the jist...  if you decide to go your route you will loose those speakers to your stereo.  Not only that the resistance might not match up with your device (phone or MP3 player) and it could cause undue harm to those devices.  You NEED a amplifier to power the speakers, and your onboard amp from your phone or mp3 player simply wont cut it.

If you bought a new car, and you don't have $40 within the next month or so, I'd say that you've bought something outside your price range :(

I honestly cant help you with what you're wanting to do.  If you'd like to do this job right, let me know.  Its easy to save up $40 over a month or so.  Just go without lunch for 10 days out of the month.

Please spend as much time writing your question, as you want me to spend responding to it.  Take some time, and explain your issue, please!

My $40 figures in the price of both a wiring kit and a mounting kit.

No I just have other things to buy, the sound should be amplified by the cd player

If you cut the speaker wire like you're talking about then you have removed the amplifier from the setup.

I don't know the model of your car...  So I have NO IDEA what would fit in the car and what wiring harness you need.

honestly if your that tight on money for a radio... listen to the radio until yiu can afford something worth getting. Fir something decent enough you should expect to pay about 100-120 for everything. Radio is gonna be 60-80 depending on what you pick and where you buy. Amazon.com is probably your cheapest bet. Then its gonna be 10 for a wiring harness, (minimum) and 20-30 bucks for a dash kit to fit your car. Ive been doing car audio for YEARS trust me when i say that your gonna spend alot more trying to get an aux cable to work on a factory cd player cause your pribably gonna break it and have to buy a whole new radio anyways.

It's just an '87 Mustang that already has an aftermarket kit in it.

I installed a cheapo radio before in my ex's Blazer so she could listen to her music through the auxiliary jack. I don't think I spent more than $80 on everything.

But I was interested when the other poster said something about Bluetooth radios being that inexpensive, so I was interested in that.

as someone who used to install stereos for a living, if its anything that is remotely modern, it wont be possible to add a aux jack to it.

ok if you have an aftermarket in there already then all you should need is a radio and it should simply replace the one thats in there now, but your still looking at about 50-60 bucks for a new radio online with an aux port. I personally recommend sony, cheap and easy to use. If you live near a walmart, which who doesnt these days... i think they have a cheap sony with an aux for like 54 bucks usually... i havnt been to walmart in along time. If you want Bluetooth, which i highly suggest. Your looking at about 80 for the radio.

I'm willing to pay enough for it to not suck, if that makes any sense. Like I'm not going to get this tomorrow or anything since I just started school and stuff, so maybe this summer. But yeah I'd like a good Bluetooth radio that isn't garbage.

adding on to this, its nit simply soldering wires to the inside to play. The electronics that read a cd have very low power and are send in a different manner then the power and signal a phone or ipod sends thru the headphone port, even if you could find the right solder points to tap into... there is a good chance youll simply damge the radio buy putting unregulated power in it
