New PC not posting.

Trey222

I built my first PC today and now it is not posting. When I turn it on all the fans turn on and stay on but nothing displays. The led on the case power light turns on then shuts off when I hit the power switch.

try with the basic hardware first

unplug all power cables...then plug them back FULLY in...

try just 1 stick of ram at a time

if none of that works...do an external build of the pc with nothing but the basics

Move your ram sticks. I had that issue with my ROG mobo.

That is what I did. I took out the Motherboard tried ram in every slot, moved the GPU to different slots and tried different cables. I am reseting the CMOS now.

Do you have a different ram stick too try? That 8GB stick may not play well with your X58 board. Also are you getting any beeps when you try too boot?

System CPU : Ryzen 9 5950 doing whatever PBO lets it. Motherboard : Asus B550 Wifi II RAM 80GB 3600 CL 18 2x 32GB 2x 8GB GPUs Vega 56 & Tesla M40 Corsair 4000D Storage: many and varied small (512GB-1TB) SSD + 5TB WD Green PSU 1000W EVGA GOLD

You can trust me, I'm from the Internet.

I tried an old 2gb stick still no luck. No beeps but I also do not have the speaker.

I assume you tried that stick in multiple slots?

I wouldn't count the board out just yet. X58 is notoriously picky when it comes too ram ask @foxhound590

It does not have one. The CPU does not have integrated graphics also.

Any chance it could be a dead CMOS? I bought the board second hand so it may have not been used in a while.

A dead cmos battery will only cause the bios to reset to defaults when the power is lost. It will still run normally is power is continuously plugged in.

Also your board used 1.65-2v ram. the Hyperx stick you have is 1.5 or potentially 1.35 volt. I really think it is a ram issue simply because of how annoying the compatibility for those boards was.

I think you might be right about the HyperX RAM, but I also tried a 2GB and a 1GB stick from several years ago and still nothing.
