165/240hz monitor

ShiroArikawa

Would a setup with 4 980ti's in sli with a 5960x be able to utilize a 165/240hz monitor? If not then 144hz? Any suggestions to make it work if it doesn't? 1080p btw.

Is there a 240mhz monitor and what display cables do you need for it?  If you go 144mhz you can get 1440p which also support 1080 obviously but its the same scaling.

Im using a 60mhz monitor but i may buy a new one i don't know if there is a big difference between 120 and 144mhz.

If you can afford a 240HZ, you'll be able to buy those 4 cards. And I'm sure they will be fine even in newer games in witcher 3, maybe not 240FPS.

this guy is at 4k and 80-110fps, so at 1080p you should do just fine.

Yes and no. you dont need 4 980tis for one. no matter what you get as a setup you wont push 140fps on AAA titles. for for games like CSGO, TF2, and easy to run games that would actually benefit from high FPS other than just looking nice it can. but you dont need 4 980tis. hell a single 970 or 960 could push over 240 for games like CSGO and TF2

Theoretically, yes, four 980Tis would drive games at that rate, but I thought that would have been obvious... <_<

yes they exist

240Hz TVs exist, but that's an interpolated refresh rate - which is an abomination.

I think he meant this

Dunno if this is real not not. Can only find one review and it's in german.

That monitor is only 120Hz, it has "Turbo 240" whatever that is, but it isn't a true 240Hz panel.

249hz monitors don't exist, and there is only one 165hz monitor on the market.

And I'll bet you that the 165hz is just a factory overclocked 144hz monitor.

In case the moderators do not ban me as requested, this is a notice that I have left and am not coming back.

well, isn't that like saying 144hz monitors are factory overclocked 120hz ones...? If they can reliably repeat the process I don't think it counts as overclocking.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

No because there is overclocking headroom left. Most 144hz displays can be overclocked by the end user to about 165hz. If you bought a 144hz monitor and it wouldn't overclock, then it's likely a pre-overclocked 120hz display etc.

but at 165hz you're most likely hitting the physical limit of dp 1.2 - even if the panel was capable of more you wouldn't be able to run it.
