i am trying to picture the PSU actually shitting itself as it sees the two 980s all hungry and ready to suck it dry!!!

AS long as your power supply can handle it , that your motherboard supports sli and you have proper airflow , you should be fine.

AMD Ryzen R7 1700 (3.8ghz) w/ NH-D14, EVGA RTX 2080 XC (stock), 4*4GB DDR4 3000MT/s RAM, Gigabyte AB350-Gaming-3 MB, CX750M PSU, 1.5TB SDD + 7TB HDD, Phanteks enthoo pro case

Dont get another card. Most games dont support sli and shit the bed. Just get the 980 Ti. A single card

Every game I play supports sli. Ive used sli since shortly after my first build. Id do it. Performance would even out in some games compared to a better card over 2 cards. Which is why my 980s are collecting dust on my desk. Worthless upgrade. You may have better luck.

2 980's will give you better frames compared to a single ti.
