Interested in an LTT Racing League/Group? Let's get one going!

Trying to get an idea for how many of you out there on the LTT forums enjoy racing and would be interested in an LTT based racing league or group?

No seasons, no points, just for fun competition. :) Would "meet up" once a week or so at a regular time to do a race or races. While it will be just for fun, some rules will apply and be enforced (no deliberate contact, no ramming etc.) common track/racing edicate.

The time would be when it (hopefully) works best for the majority.

So, cast your vote(s) and let me know if this might be a viable thing to pursue.

My preference is Project Cars just because of the simplicity and ease in setting up MP races as well as a good selection of cars & tracks. ;)

Would prefer if you use a wheel and pedals for control. Unless you're REALLY good with a game pad controller. ;) To be clear; those with game pad controllers are welcome to join, just keep in mind; there will most likely be no assists (no ABS, traction or stability control).

Other details like track, vehicle, weather, length of practice/qualifying/race etc. can all be determined later, once I know there is some significant interest.

Thanks,

MEC.

**EDIT** Please, if you are interested and cast a "yes" vote, please post a reply so I can see who you are and get in contact. Thanks! :)

Count me in! FWIW, it might be a good idea to start up a steam group similar to PCDC (Project CARS Drivers Club) but obviously better tailoured to our needs. This way, we can better manage players in the group, schedule events/reminders, and of course it would make setting up private lobbies easier. Should the need arise, and since it would be through Steam, we could always open up the game selection on the fly.

http://steamcommunity.com/groups/ProjectCARSDriversClub

If there is enough interest in this group (say, if we get into the double digits) then I will draft a very brief but detailed guideline for driver discipline and how to handle various racing incidents. Format is something we'll decide in the coming days - timed race or determine length by laps? Standing start or rolling start with a formation lap? (this would require teamspeak). I'm personally a huge fan of the 2 race timed format, with the second event featuring a reverse grid, but of course this is limited by how much time LTT members will have to spare.

I can't stress this enough, but if you are serious about joining this then I highly recommend watching the iRacing driving school series on YT. It takes less than an hour, and even though this is all casual, the skills and dynamics you learn can go beyond just sim racing.

I would. I love racing games (my first PC game was a racing game) and I would be willing to join a LTT team. I only have keyboard/mouse for now, but I am saving for a racing wheel.

Awesome. Thanks for the suggestions. :) Will definitely look into setting up a Steam group.

I'm thinking to keep it relatively short as not everyone can commit to the time it takes for longer sessions. I'm thinking 10-15min practice followed by 10min qualifying, then a timed race 10-20mins, depending on what people feel like doing. I don't mind doing a longer race, but again, it may not jive with everyone's schedule. Practice and qualifying time can vary depending on if it's a longer or shorter track (10mins at Spa only gives you time for 3 solid laps ;) ).

Also thinking this will most likely fall on a week night, not too early as to cut into dinner, but not too late for those who have an early start in the mornings. Anyways, those details can be worked out later. Getting ahead of myself. :P

Ideally we'd set the assists to realistic at the minimum depending on what is being raced, but in all honestly the cars aren't too hard to drive without assists enabled once you get used to them.

I'm really, really hoping we get enough interest in this. If the numbers permit, and since I'm trusting you all to drive responsibly (until I'm proven wrong), we can actually turn the private lobby into a multi-class event by setting the class structure to open and letting players select cars based on the WEC team rosters. Currently testing this out in a single player mod, but it's easily replicable online.

The above is an example of what it could look like. I'll be updating my progress with testing in the Box Box Box thread.

Yeah, I have no problem setting the assists to "realistic" if some people insist. At least then, the cars that should not have assists, won't, and the ones that do, will. Can take a vote later, but I'd prefer just "off" altogether. Since this is a "for fun" league, we could avoid the cars that are significantly more difficult to drive (98T etc.). Although, those are some of my favorite cars to race... lol. Meh, I'm happy to race anything, really, as long as it's not the stock Audi R8 or Renault RS01. (The two WORST cars in the game) :P

Multi-class racing is awesome! Absolutely love this idea. :) Need a pretty big field to make it worth while though. At least 3-4 each. Judging by the poll results so far, we're almost there, if those people who voted yes can commit.

If I get a Logitech G29/G290 soon, I'm definitely interested.

R3E is a pretty good racing simulator and while it is F2P, the free content is quite limited. That being said, we want for as many people to be able to play as possible. So perhaps we might "game hop" a little from time to time. ;)

@MEC-777 @Superspeed07

Ideally we'd set the assists to realistic at the minimum depending on what is being raced, but in all honestly the cars aren't too hard to drive without assists enabled once you get used to them.

-snip-

Ether way i'm fine with, I usually prefer realistic because that is what the cars should do in real life( I wouldn't know :D) i'm just used to gt class, etc but if they are off it isn't a biggie, multi-class sounds fun

I will pretty much race anything that can move in a game, currently i'm playing trials fusion and always looking for people to play trackmania with :D

I should add i'm good with any night except wednesdays, gotta bowl for $$$

Ok, time to revive this thread. :)

We have 11 people who are interested and 5 said maybe. We also have 12 who have voted for PCars as the preferred game. Only 4 people are following this thread, so hopefully most of those who voted yes have replied to this thread so I can send them a PM.

Trying to nail down a day and time to hold the first "event", which will most likely take place some time next week and be during a weekday evening.

If you know of a day an time when you are NOT available, please post up or let me know via PM and be sure to include your time zone. ;)

Thanks for all those who have shown interest. Will hopefully get something going soon. Will keep you all posted here.

Stay tuned... :)
