I/O bracket in the way of the motherboard

Gnrl Kitty

Has anyone ever experienced this? I have a Maximus V Formula and I'm trying to put it in a 900D. But I swear the I/O bracket is in the way of the motherboard lining up with the standoffs. The I/O shield has some padding on the back, is it okay to remove that to make it more flush...?

Sometimes you have to push on the board to get it to fit all the way. I had to do it in my Cosmos II and DF-85.

Leave the padding there. It's there for a reason. Just the board up against it.

I have  MVF in an 800D, had no problems. I can't imagine there would be a problem on the 900D.

Make sure all the IO ports are properly lined up and there's nothing else blocking. Then gently push the board into the padding and the standoffs should line up. The padding is there to make contact with the ports, leave it on.

I don't see how this is possible... Even after getting the board pushed over this peg in the middle (which took all my strength) it still barely allows SOME of the standoffs to line up.

You can see in the second one that it still definitely doesn't line up.

Is it me or does that standoff in the first picture look like it's in really bad shape?

I don't know... This is my first build so I honestly don't even know what one should look like.

Is a screw in the standoff?

Some standoffs are just that, standoffs. Some of them just have pegs jutting out of them, so screws are not required.

Interesting. Never seen them before.
