And you need a bigger bending spring, if I would've heated these it would have become even worse due to the non evenly distributed pressure from the spring. But thanks for trying to help anyway :)

I don't know why you would use a spring to bend them. Usually people use a rubber tube the size of the inside of the tube you're trying to bend. I don't know why you would use a spring to bend them. Usually people use a rubber tube the size of the inside of the tube you're trying to bend. Those were not acrylic tubes, these need an actual spring (technically a rubber tube is a spring) to be able to bend them. The only spring avaidable was 16 mm where my tube was 19 mm, I just tried knowing that it would most likely fail but you never know until you try. Fitting cables through a 90 degree turn in a hard tube is almost impossible anyway ;P

Ofcourse I was, this is model is a year earlier though so its a bit more "oldschool" :P

Benchmark time!

 

Alright guys so I ran a few benchmarks on this system so you can see

how it performs, it's nothing world shocking but very good for the price.

 

 

The first test I did was an SSD test, sadly I couldn't get AHCI to work,

for that I probably would need to do a reinstall and as speeds are fine

for what this is intended for I have decided not to do this.

As you can see, I used two different benchmarking tools for the SSD,

the first one is AS SSD Benchmark. The other one is the common

ATTO disk benchmark. The reason I chose these two benchmarks is

that they both use different kinds of test methods so the end result I'm

getting is more complete.

 

 

After this is did a prime95 stress test to both check temps and the

stability of this system. These are the temps before the run:

These ridiculously low temps are probably not the real temps, I think

that the sensor isn't working properly for lower temps.

 

The moment I start prime95 the temps go up to a more believable

value:

Still, 30 degrees centigrade is very cool for a system on max load.

 

After leaving the stress test running for a couple of hours i checked

back to see the temps, and to my surprise they haven't even gone 

pas 40 degrees centigrade!

This system might just be asking for an overclocking attempt... well

maybe for later and I won't be running the overclock afterwards as

we don't need the extra performance just yet. It would be fun to see

the effect on the benchmarks though!

 

 

Then I ran two more benchmarks to see the performance of this a4

chip. The first one was ofcourse a 3dmark. I chose 3dmark06 so I

could compare this system to my past 2 builds. here are the results:

As you can see the test did run at a lower resolution because of the

monitor it was hooked up to. I might use my own monitor to get a

proper 3dmark score so it's actually good for comparisons!

Now for the second benchmark to see the power of this a4 processor,

I used a benchmark called "performance test" also known as passmark.

This is mainly to see the cpu power and overal system performance, if

After noticing that the ram performs like ddr2-800 according to passmark

I decided to check my RAM stats, but these seemed all a-ok...

It's running at the correct speed and the timings seem to be allright,

maybe that anyone here knows what's up?

 

 

Finally I did 30 startup runs and timed them all to get a good average

startup time. I did 10 runs in which the pc starts up, launches chrome 

and loads up linustechtips. I also did 10 runs in which the pc starts up 

and launches a notepad document (which is almsot instantly) and finally

I did 10 runs in which the pc starts up and then launches the "wildlife in

HD" video from windows. I think that with these 3 types of startups I got

the best references and standardizations for future startup benchmarks

of fun (I'm not going extreme, don't wanna kill the system :P) I'll probably

As promised, here is the overclocking update!

 

Going up to 3.1 ghz was fairly easy, just upping the base clock a bit and

then running a strest test (mainly for the memory, as that tends to fail

first with base clock overclocking) The reason for the low temps in the

following screenshot is that I took them during the memory stress test.

 

So now the progress up to 3.1 ghz:

At 3246 mhz (baseclock 120 mhz, set to 119 in the bios) the system

restarted when i started running prime 95 (In-place large FFT s), just

before the restart I noticed a graphical bug. So I gave the igp just a bit

more juice and there we go 3246 mhz stable:

It survived an almost 6 hour run of prime 95 (In-place large FFT s)

before I had to stop it. The temps got to about 40 degrees celsius, and

as these chips have a read-out problem with programs like core-temp I

should add 10 degrees. So it got to 50 degrees. I know it had to be 10

degrees by comparing the idling temps when in the bios with the idling

temps in windows, the bios temps were 10 degrees higher. 

 

So after this I did some bencmarks. First off I ran the performance test:

The test I ran with the original settings gave me a cpu score of 1801,

now the cpu score is 1981. This would be an around 10% performance

increase for a 20% baseclock overclock. Which is not too bad considering

these apu's don't scale that well with overclocking.

 

Now where I got surprises was at 3dmark06, I ran it twice to be sure:

With the non-overclocked system I got a score of 3679. So I went into

the bios and reset everything and ran 3dmark06 with the default bios

values:

So now the score is even lower! I think it probably has to do with the

memory and it's usage, as now I've got some more programs on the

system than when I first did the benchmark. And as an apu relies heavily

on the ddr3 memory that might just be the issue here.

 

Anyway I could probably push this cpu even higher, but for now I don't

have the time. Even making this post is almost too much. But I definitely

will overclock this baby more in the future!
