Finally got the PC Canoe built up!

  • Percent Studio Polycarbonate Canoe
  • Gateron Black Inks (205g0, 65g TX Springs, TX Films) on Steel Plate
  • Lubed Zeal Stabilizers (205g0, Dielectric Grease)

Ooh that's pretty, noticed you used Zeal stabilisers lubed with 205g0, same as me! :) Loving the Gat Inks set up there, almost chose those but ended up choosing Zeal's Tealios when deciding on a switch.

Thanks! I've found Zeal screw-ins are the best, especially when lubed. Tealios are a great choice, probably the smoothest when stock. I went with Inks, since when lubed/spring swapped and filmed, they sound a bit bassier and clackier. Almost went with vintage blacks, which sound the best to me, but I've always found them inconsistent in smoothness and sound, even when "cherry"-picked from a large pile.

Picked up a Corsair K70 RGB today. Going to use it on my main rig, as these speed switches are cool once you get used to them, but they won't ever top blues for typing.

That's what I have as well. I can't sing its praises enough but it is my first mechanical keyboard so I don't have much frame of reference.

Personally, once I got used to the reds, I have found them to be acceptable for typing. If I did a lot of typing for a living, I would probably want some different switches though. But as gaming was my main concern and most of my typing is just forum and shit posting, they serve me well enough. Even typing for work is fine since I don't type massive documents or anything like that.

EDIT: Thought I was on the last page but I just quoted something from two years ago. Oops lol. Regardless, I do love the K70 RGB.

Handwired keeb of my own layout, with Kailh choc jades and a soon to be custom set of keycaps. Case is (going to be) a steel and ABS sandwich, with a Teensy LC as the microcontroller. Oh yeah, and soon I'll get rid of all that dumb hot glue.

Ooh, Choc Jades. How are they?

I can only compare to MX Blues because that's what I've used before, but the short version is that they're a little lighter, and the lack of travel is really, really nice for me. Also has a nice click to it (much more click and much less "thock").

Went straight for gold and got some Cherry Blacks in the mail today. I lubed these up with Krytox 205g0 and so far, these are nice. They're quite heavy and I can barely bottom-out with these switches, but their smoothness is about 7/10 the amount of my lubed Tealios.

Try spring swapping them with TX or KBDLAB springs. Or you can lube the springs with something like 105 or LSD.

I think I'm fine with the springs in it currently, it's just me trying to get used to the weight of it, coming from 67g Tealios. I already lubed the tops and bottoms of the springs with Krytox 205g0 whilst I was lubing the Blacks because I wanted to cut down on spring-ping.

Yup, definitely do this, stock Cherry springs are terrible, squared.

Of course. Those are not original IBM keyboards and they don't have the full AT layout. They could probably replace my F XT, but I intend to keep it.

I put some Cherry Blacks into my KBDfans 5 Degree earlier this week, and despite lubing them up wiith Krytox 205g0, they're still scratchy. Even stock Gateron Yellows beat these.

The prophecies fortold of scratchiness from retooled Cherry Blacks.
