Mechanical Keyboard Club!

Dave :)

Thanks for the info! I have found some opinions on the geekhack forum too. Most are positive. If only it had some backlighting ;)

Also, anyone owns a ducky mini here? I really want one but there are reports of the keys feeling mushy on them. I only heard complains from the mx blue variety and I was thinking going mx red but still...

I have the KUL ES-87 MX Green version and it's one of my fave boards. The board is definitely sturdy and pretty heavy, the MX Green switch makes for a excellent typing and gaming experience with their crisp tactile feel and stiffness. I actually like that it's non-backlit actually, but I have replaced its stock keycaps with a Bumble Bee set.

I have the Ducky YoTH MX Green and I'm typing with this right now, none of that musshiness you'd mentioned, perhaps it has something to do with a batch of Blues Ducky had gotten, The Greens I have are stiff and has a similar click to the Blues. On powering up, I noted that it has this raindrop effect with constantly changing colors, I left it as it was simply because that effect is so damn nice.

I need friends like you.

Gratz! How do you like the reds?

I'm one of those friends that gives stuff to them if they need it. One of my friends homes burned down this morning and I'm giving him my old computer parts. Lets hope his HDD and GPU are still alive. Everything else was lost. :(

I saw those(scan/ocuk first place you look in the uk) and saw the "for proffesional gamer" and assumed it was crap. Lets face it 99% of products that have "for extreme l33t gamers" etc are usually terrible in comparison.

Is this an exception? Will they where down quickly? Will they feel cheap?

Go and take a look of Massdrop, there are some reviews from people who have bought them. Never used them myself as I don't really care for white keycaps. Though, they are double shot injected, which is arguably the best way to manufacture keycaps, so I don't think they will be wearing down quickly, no.

I'm actually considering to switch over to a tkl mechanical keyboard since I really appreciate the shorter distance between my hands (I have short hands). Currently I'm looking at the ducky shine 3 tkl, but is there any other keyboard you guys would recommend ?

Solid choice already in my opinion :D

Another TKL I'd recommend is Filco

Cherry G80-3000 (blue) | Ducky 9008 Shine 2 (black/blue LED) | Ducky 9087 Shine 2 Year of the Dragon (brown/yellow LED)

Ducky Mini Year of the Horse (white/blue+red LED) | Steelseries 6Gv2 (black) | Leopold FC660M (red) | Vortex Race 3 (blue)

What are the main differences between this 2 keyboard? Another thing is I'm not sure if I should be spending the extra bucks on the shine 3 because of the flashy led. The ducky zero would be fine too right?

Ducky Shine 3 has LED lights, multimedia shortcut keys, great quality keyboard overall

Filco has a simple, regular layout, not really that many extra features, but Filco is known to make one of the highest quality keyboards in the market right now. I have never seen anyone post a complaint about their Filco breaking or any disappointments about it.

The Ducky Zero is also a good choice if you're on a budget. It is lower quality than Ducky Shine 3 but definitely reasonably good for its price.

Multimedia short cuts aren't just volume up and down. :P

Actually I understand that the shine's "multimedia" functions are only the volume adjustment. I've seen a Filco on sale now, maybe the only drawback now is whether do I need the fanciful led on my boards or not.

I kind of want the keyboard they made with MX Blues... Not only I like that it's mechanical, it doesn't look half bad. :)

Got one of these babies with my iMac G4. Still the best keyboard I've ever typed on. Apple could make a damn good keyboard back then. Great sound, feedback, clickiness, all at 12 years old :D

Really? It's just a cheap membrane keyboard, I don't really like it. I like my apple adjustable keyboard with alps

I really like my brother's new MacBook Air keyboard. In fact, the wireless Apple Keyboard is my favorite right now. It's clicky and looks great. But the iMac G4's is a very close second.

Too bad I don't have the money to upgrade from my current shitty Logitech one... It's painful. I use my iMac to type because it's so much better.

I'd say I would sell my other keyboard with Blues, but it has a few damaged switches (Broke a 3 foot rule once and spilled pop all over one side of it), and I still use it every now and again... Still need to try to replace the arrow keys, and a couple keys on the numpad, thank god I have experience with soldering. :D

Oh i do like curent apple keyboard, typing on the one before the wirelss once, feels the same, just wired and with num pad.

Picked up this beuty a few days ago for free. Had to get a 20$ ADB to USB adapter that arived today, and horray, keyboard works, not with mac tho, wich is weird.

I present, the Apple Adjustable Keyboard fetureing Alps  Alps SKFS.

They feel like browns but more satisfing. There is a big rubber sheet under main keyboard (not 10key thing tho) that acts as a big o ring, quieter than reds bottoming out.

Looks normal to me:

You can split it as much as you want, and nice big wrist wrests. I'm retiring my k70 for it.
