2016 Kenworth T680

Hey guys, ordered the parts for my new PC a few days ago. Will be building it when I get home in a couple weeks. Parts list as follows:

PCPartPicker part list: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/QNVT23

Price breakdown by merchant: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/QNVT23/by_merchant/

CPU: Intel Core i7-6700K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor (only reason I got this over a 5820k was because Skyrim loves single core performance, and Skyrim and previous TES and FO games are my top played games)

CPU Cooler: NZXT Kraken X61 106.1 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler (hopefully will be fine in a moving vehicle. I'll be mounting it in a place where if it leaks it won't leak on anything else)

Motherboard: Asus MAXIMUS VIII HERO ATX LGA1151 Motherboard

Memory: Kingston Savage 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2400 Memory (might get another set in the future? )

Storage: Samsung 850 EVO-Series 250GB 2.5" Solid State Drive (OS, programs, and a few important games)

Storage: Mushkin ECO2 512GB 2.5" Solid State Drive (other games)

Storage: Hitachi Travelstar 1TB 2.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive x2 (chose laptop hard drives to better deal with the vibrations of being in a moving vehicle)

Video Card: Sapphire Radeon R9 Fury 4GB Video Card (2-Way CrossFire)

Case: Thermaltake Core X9 ATX Desktop Case

Power Supply: Thermaltake Toughpower Grand 1050W 80+ Platinum Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply

Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 Home OEM (64-bit)

Wireless Network Adapter: Asus USB-AC56 802.11a/b/g/n/ac USB 3.0 Wi-Fi Adapter (to connect to the truck stop wifi/my phone hotspot)

Case Fan: BitFenix Spectre Pro LED 148.7 CFM 200mm Fan x2 (front intake)

Going to be used for games and multimedia.

As stated above, my top played games are BGS games. I'm going to be modding the heck out of Skyrim, Fallout 3/nv, and oblivion.

Some other games in going to be playing are FO4, GTAV, Witcher 3, Tomb Raider 2013, RotTR, Deus EX this summer, WoW, and DA:Inquisition.

Hopefully this should last me a while. Probably waiting for ZEN+ and r9 590/gtx 1180ti before I upgrade again.

Monitor will be a 32" 1080p TV for now. Will upgrade to 3440x1440 when one comes out with freesync and doesn't have the issues the Acer Predator has.

Intel i7 6700k @ 4.8ghz, NZXT Kraken X61, ASUS Z170 Maximus VIII Hero, (2x8GB) Kingston DDR4 2400, 2x Sapphire Nitro Fury OC+, Thermaltake 1050W

Yeah, I thought very hard and long before dropping almost $3 grand on a PC. I was originally going to go x99 and a single hough end 980ti, but because I play so many DX9 games, and now that AMD has DX9 frame pacing, I decided to go the route I did.

My only critique with this is you could've spent less on the motherboard xD

Yeah, I probably should have. Upshot is it matches my color scheme, and has sport for pciex4 m.2 drives, for when my Skyrim mod list gets so extreme not even the 850 Evo can handle it lol

Now I have a capable PC for VR porn. Cheaper, and no chances for disease! :P

Love everything except for the USB wifi adapter. A USB one can never be as powerful as a pci one.

Also, you better have a nice ass inverter in that truck. You don't want some square wave ac to fuck your computer up.

My AMD Build:

Spoiler

FX 6300 @ 4.8GHz, Zalman CNPS14X, MSI 970 Gaming, 16gb 1866MHz AData Ram, 3D Club R9 280X, Corsair 600M Psu, Thermaltake V3 AMD Edition Case, D-link 1200AC WiFi, 240gb Mushkin SSD, 2tb WD HDD, 140gb WD HDD (recording gameplay), 5x CoolerMaster SickleFlow 120mm fans, Windows 10 64Bit

Sisters Intel Build:

Spoiler

I7 4790k @ 4.4GHz, CoolerMaster 212 Evo, Gigabyte Gaming 5, 16gb 1866MHz Corsair Ram, 3D Club R9 390, EVGA 650GS Psu, NZXT S340 Case, D-Link 1200AC WiFi Card, HyperX 240gb SSD, 2tb WD HDD, Windows 10 64 Bit

I can download things like mods, drivers, and programs from my phone, and transfer them over to my PC. I can download things like patches and games at truck stops, although I'm likely going to be buying physical copies when I can because truck stop Internet is usually super slow (in the range of 100-500kbps)

Oh, and that case is far from little lol

I have space for it. I took the mattress out of the top bunk and I'm going to strap it in up there. The original plan was to do a mitx/matx build where I now have a microwave but I changed my mind on that lol

I got the USB so I could place the receiver wherever the best wifi signal in my truck at the time is. Getting a pcie card if it's worth it is an option downy the road though.

It's a 2500watt rms inverter, I think the brand is Cobra. Think something like a UPS would be a good idea to protect from dirty power?

FYI almost all games (if not every game) just has an empty box with a Steam Key.

Oops my bad.  Took one look at the picture of the case and immediately thought of their Core V21 case.

I thought maybe using a wireless hotspot or something would be a good idea, wasn't entirely sure truck stops had free wifi these days lol.

I would if I could. No cell phone companies offer unlimited hotspot/tethering. I get 9GB of hs/th on my tmobile unlimited plan, but that's nothing when it comes to Internet for a PC

I got it all built, pics to come. Unfortunately one of my Nitro's are DoA. The fans on it only work if I manually set the speed to 85-100%. I know it's not a driver issue, because the problem persists regardless of whether it's the slave or master, and it's the only one that does it when it's put in their by itself

Hard drive on a driving truck.... you can only do ssd-s... Your computer internals will fly around like in an earthquake... the system will break!

He's using 2.5 inch laptop HDDs... as a someone who has used a laptop with an HDD in cars, planes, with the lapop being dropped and thrown around, he's fine... a Semi Truck computer won't be moving around as much as a laptop either.
