BLOWN VRM'S? NEED QUICK HELP

If you blew your VRM i'm pretty sure the system would just crash, not just turn aero off. If it doesn't smell burnt or anything and you didn't see any smoke i doubt you burnt your VRM.

SO JUST few minutes ago i was overclcking the card (gigabyte gtx 570 soc). when i finished overclocking i returned to stock settings to then to then browse the web but then suddenly my windows 7 theme switched to non-areo and there was a whistle noise coming out of the pc. tried to turn areo back on with no success. as i could hear the whistle i quickly shut the pc down with the switch on the psu. im now scared to turn it back on. gtx 570 are well known for blown vrm's. it could be also that my` underpowerd power supply went bad. what should i do now?

Your PSU should be enough to handle that graphics card also I don't think a VRM whistles when it's broken

if it's out of warranty remove it from the system, remove the cooler and inspect for damage

 

If it's damaged, poor luck.

 

If it's under warranty you should RMA it.

it as still working when i shut the pc down but it was making wisthle sound and areo turned off. should i take the cooler off? to check for damage?

theres 100+ posts of blown vrm's on gtx570 on other computer forum. no i dont think i can smell anything

my gpu has 14 leds on the pcb that show the usage of all vrms. i will try to turn it on in a minute to see if all light up.

so whats was that wistle that sounded like a capacitor ready to blow? now im thinking its the psu. psu ready to blow making wisthe noise(not gpu)>not enough power delivered to gpu>areo turned off

edit: gigabyte reommends 650w power supply and ive got 550w

you probably blew a capacitor or condensator on your psu

What's the point of just waiting? Time won't fix it, just try it, probably winSAT started which caused a load on the pc which made something coil whine and winSAT always disable aero (it re-tests your system to get a new windows-score, this is common with overclocked systems or in your case a system that was overclocked)

looks to be running fine. had bios error checksum on start up which is odd but other than that its running fine.
