Build-Off Week 8: Cooler Master + Gigabyte [Brand-Themed Build]

Go to solution Solved by lachyman,

Time for me to join too, everything has to be done 1st time :D

This is what I came up with:

CPU:  AMD FX-8320 3.5GHz 8-Core Processor  ($144.99 @ Amazon)
CPU Cooler:  Cooler Master Seidon 120XL 86.2 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler  ($39.99 @ Newegg)
Thermal Compound:  Cooler Master HTK-002 0.01g Thermal Paste  ($4.98 @ Outlet PC)
Motherboard:  Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 ATX AM3+ Motherboard  ($114.99 @ Newegg)
Storage:  OCZ Vector Series 128GB 2.5" Solid State Disk  ($79.99 @ Newegg)
Video Card:  Gigabyte Radeon HD 7950 3GB Video Card  ($233.98 @ Newegg)
Case:  Cooler Master HAF XB (Black) ATX Desktop Case  ($79.99 @ Microcenter)
Monitor:  AOC i2367Fh 60Hz 23.0" Monitor  ($139.99 @ Amazon)
Total: $999.86
(Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.)
(Generated by PCPartPicker 2013-09-01 05:09 EDT-0400)

CPU: Great for the price,
CPU cooler: $30 rebate liquid cooler, will keep that CPU cool even when OCed, with a good cooler master thermal paste.
MoBo: Offers everything that regular user/gamer might need and looks awesome.
RAM: There isn't much that matters when choosing RAM, only capacity and CAS Latency, this one has 8GB 1866mhz CL9 + looks nice.
GPU: You want Gigabyte, you get Gigabyte. Not the best manufactured 7950 on the market, but it is a 7950 and that matters!
SSD: Awesome price/gigabyte ratio. Used as a boot drive.
HDD: A normal HDD for saving media, you don't need anything ultra fast for that and 500GB is enough for most people.
PSU: 700W bronze certifiied for awesome price. Crossfire ready.
Case: One of the best for the price, offers plenty of ventilation.
Monitor: 23" IPS panel for $140. Nuff said.

Welcome to the Build-Off! The rules and guidelines can be found here.

This week's challenge is to make a partlist using as many Cooler Master and Gigabyte branded parts as possible. The budget is $1,000. You can use any form factor you want and peripherals are not required (but a monitor is).

This is the beginning of a few brand-themed builds. These are simply stipulations that make you use parts you might not otherwise choose. The Build-Offs are not affiliated with or sponsored by any companies or brands.

The contest will run from Friday August 30th to Thursday September 5th, with the 3rd, 4th, and 5th reserved for voting.

UPDATE: @lachyman is our winner! Congrats to him!

Going for looks. Black with a small hint of blue on the chipset heatsink. I love Gigabyte stuff. Matte black PCB's should be an industry standard!

I like how most peps are using the same Monitor etc, and keep updating thier build with cheaper stuff, form people who already posted lol..

Not much to say bout this build.. you wanted Gigabyte& Coolermaster, you got Gigabyte and Coolermaster in a good performing little build...I choose those party because they visually looked most appealing to me, and i do know those party, because I have used them in friends builds often. Chea & Good.

Why did I chose this:

CPU: Good pricing, 8-core will be good for gaming because next-gen consoles are 8-cores aswell

CPU Cooler: Probably the best you can get around $20

Motherboard: It has everything you might need

RAM: Good latency, 2133mhz and 15% discount

SSD: Very good for the price

HDD: 2TB should be enough for most people, also nice price with $20 discount

GPU: Perfomance is around the same as 7970 but this is cheaper

Case: Because it's gigabyte and it's low price but should be pretty good

Fans: More airflow is always good, shouldn't be loud, 1 fan in front, 1 in back

PSU: 80 PLUS Bronze, semi-modular, $45 discount

Monitor: 1080p, IPS, LED, very good price

Gigabyte items used: 3

Cooler Master items used: 4

Lenovo Y50 (i7-4710HQ, 1TB SSHD, 16GB RAM, 860m 4GB), Nikon D3300 (lenses: 18-55mm kit, Tokina 70-210mm vintage)

P.S. Sorry for my bad english :/

CPU: FX-8320 with CM 212 Evo is good enough for most of us.

Motherboard: Support USB 3.0, SATA 6Gbps, 2-way Crossfire. Futureproof!

RAM: It's good and it's on sale!

Storage: Classic - 120 GB SSD for Windows and 1TB drive for data.

GPU: HD 7950! Horsepower!

PSU: 750W, efficient (80 plus bronze), futureproof!

Case: Nice windowed CM case.

Monitor: It's 22" FullHD VA LED screen so it's good enough, but this was compromised in order to get decent storage.

When you make a post, there is a little icon in between numbered list and unlink, which is called hyperlinking. You can highlight text, click hyperlink, and enter the URL you want. then when people click the text, they are taken to the URL. In general you can tell hyperlinked text by the blue underline.
