144hz monitor only displaying 60hz?

no_clntrol

My new monitor does not refresh at 144hz according to http://www.vsynctester.com/ and a couple of other testers, and there is a lot of screen tearing in lots of games. How do I troubleshoot it/what are some solutions to this? I have read on some places that you need drivers for 144hz, I have not downloaded any, if that might be it.

What video card are you using? Are you using the drivers for that respective video card?

You do not need additional drivers for 144Hz besides your video card's official drivers.

what cable are u using?

Some sort of DVI cable, by the looks of it (no gap between the 8 pins) it should be a DVI-D.

Can you post a screenshot that it is set to 144Hz?

This answered my question. Install the driver.

You can't set it to 144Hz without the official display driver. Even so, check out a screenshot of my system.

I have not, these are the files that came with it. http://puu.sh/m8uRH/88481d93e2.png Which one should I run/relocate/whatever?

Did you install any graphics drivers through Windows Update?

Sounds like a dual link dvi cable to me.

If your monitor cones with a display port cable, you want to try that?

Also, which 970 we talking about here?

From my understanding, some 970s come with two dvi outs, and one of those are dual link capable iirc.

No, not that I can recall. Latest update according to the update log was 6 days ago.

Nope, 3 HDMI, 1 DVI and a VGA :/

Dual link DVI should work fine - it wouldn't give him the option for 144Hz if it didn't, and I currently use dual link DVI with my 144Hz monitor.

Which one of these ports would it be? Just to make sure.. If it even matters. http://rog.asus.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/3-IMG_6475.jpg

Either one should work. DVI-I(one that says DVI and VGA next to it) is DVI-D paired with VGA essentially.
