That moment when Linus starts destroying that ViewSonic monitor that I also happen to own...

Also, RIP Linus' components. I'd take Luke's because you could get rid of the Christmas stuff and put it back in while with Linus' imagine the reactions and questions someone would get if they tried to resell a glitter graphics card....

This shouldn't be Luke v Linus. We already have Scrapyard Wars for that.

This should be aspiring modders/tech youtubers/other LMG employees competing against each other and Linus walking around imaginatively insulting their thermal paste application technique and such, then deciding the winner in the end.

I don't know I feel like with Xmas here they just kinda dropped the ball in some respects and rushed it out. Oh well still enjoyed it.

muh specs

Gaming and HTPC (reparations)- ASUS 1080, MSI X99A SLI Plus, 5820k- 4.5GHz @ 1.25v, asetek based 360mm AIO, RM 1000x, 16GB memory, 750D with front USB 2.0 replaced with 3.0  ports, 2 250GB 850 EVOs in Raid 0 (why not, only has games on it), some hard drives

Screens- Acer preditor XB241H (1080p, 144Hz Gsync), LG 1080p ultrawide, (all mounted) directly wired to TV in other room

Stuff- k70 with reds, steel series rival, g13, full desk covering mouse mat

All parts black

Workstation(desk)- 3770k, 970 reference, 16GB of some crucial memory, a motherboard of some kind I don't remember, Micomsoft SC-512N1-L/DVI, CM Storm Trooper (It's got a handle, can you handle that?), 240mm Asetek based AIO, Crucial M550 256GB (upgrade soon), some hard drives, disc drives, and hot swap bays

Screens- 3  ASUS VN248H-P IPS 1080p screens mounted on a stand, some old tv on the wall above it.

Stuff- Epicgear defiant (solderless swappable switches), g600, moutned mic and other stuff.

Laptop docking area- 2 1440p korean monitors mounted, one AHVA matte, one samsung PLS gloss (very annoying, yes). Trashy Razer blackwidow chroma...I mean like the J key doesn't click anymore. I got a model M i use on it to, but its time for a new keyboard. Some edgy Utechsmart mouse similar to g600. Hooked to laptop dock for both of my dell precision laptops. (not only docking area)

Shelf- i7-2600 non-k (has vt-d), 380t, some ASUS sandy itx board, intel quad nic. Currently hosts shared files, setting up as pfsense box in VM. Also acts as spare gaming PC with a 580 or whatever someone brings. Hooked into laptop dock area via usb switch

Did Linus switch watches as a daily driver? That looks more like the Zenwatch then the G Watch R (as a Pebble user myself)

Theme idea: Scrap yard/scrap metal

That would look so cool *.*

P.S.: I think Linus' build would have been way cooler than Luke's if he had more time and the glitter looks great. But since this show is also about time management, I choose Luke for the winner.

It's to use for monitoring Unraid, as the 5930K doesnt come with iGPU. There is a 980 otherwise

PC is Intel Core i5 6400, GIgabyte H170 Gaming 3, Corsair Vengeance LPX 2x4GB 2400Mhz ,Sandisk Ultra Plus 128GB, WD Blue 1TB, NZXT S340, ASUS Geforce GTX 960. Fractal Design Tesla R2 650W. http://au.pcpartpicker.com/p/793XNG. Graphics card choices don't always have to be dictated on performance. If you want the game stream and power consumption of the GTX 970 get that. If you want raw performance of the R9 390 get that. In the end we are all gamers, so what if your buddy gets an extra 5 fps?

I really like this format! The comments on the judges’ reactions from Linus and Luke were very entertaining. Also the length of the show was just perfect, no filler content and it seems like nothing important is missing. The timer at the bottom was a nice touch, so you know under how much pressure the contestants are. I also think it was important to have Jon as Judge, because he as more tech knowhow (like the graphics card is not supposed to be spinning)

Some things that I think could be improved for next time:

  • maybe use a dedicated camera with a fixed position for time lapse footage, so it is not moving all over the place
  • short explain, which components did you choose and which were given to you? (example: where are the cable mod cables from)
  • also explain how much time you have for building at the start
  • start the timer at 0:00 to 3:00 and not 1:00 to 4:00 and maybe change the appearance of it (themed to the topic)

+1 for turnip and Nicky V themes.

I'd like to see more game themed ones like the Fallout  bomb, that would be cool. Also surely a Star Wars theme needs to happen.  BB-8 case mod?
