$1000 build suggestions?

This is what I'm looking at now. If possible (I hate myself for saying this) I'd like to do AMD GPUs just so I can crossfire in the future. Buying an SLI board is really expensive and the only good NVIDIA cards imo are the 970 and 980ti, with a big price gap. If I could find a good AMD GPU to fill in the rest of the budget and then crossfire later on that would be ideal.

Here, higher end of the gaming spectrum as cheap as possible:

$810

Xeon is good for 8 thread low cost, don't think he needs that, stronger single cores and 4 threads still ideal for gaming.

Its not an IPC issue with something like the 1231 V3, but yeh if youre not editing then its not worth getting it I suppose.

Is skylake really necessary? Also eh case and I need a 1TB drive.

That GPU is rumored to be the crappiest of all 390s... just saying.  Voltage locked, loud and shitty cooling.   :)

I can spend a lot more on the GPU since I have a lot of budget left so could I get something a bit more than a 390 maybe?

Also I don't really need a modular PSU. The S340 doesn't have a side panel window so nothing will be showing. I like the one I chose, really good deal for 750W (which is plenty). If you find a nice alternative then show me.

Uhmmm, the 4460 is what $170?  For $30 more you are getting better IPC performance, DDR4 support and the good possibility to overclock the locked CPU.  Yeah, it is worth it.

I left almost $200 on the budget.  Grab a storage drive.

You still have to pay more for a skylake board and DDR4. It all adds up. I'm just asking if it's really worth the price difference. It's not just $30.

Question:  Why do you want a better GPU?  What is wrong with a 390?

750W is way too much for a single 390(X), but might fall short in a Crossfire setup.

No, you don't.  I picked the Z170 because the bios allows (maybe) for overclocking.  You can grab a $50 Skylake board with that 6500.  DDR4 RAM is just as cheap as DDR3.

Nothing, I just have a gap in the budget. I can spend a bit more. If skylake is where I should put that extra money, maybe I will. I just thought a better GPU might be a better investment. Also, is 750W really not enough for crossfire?

The EVGA G2 is a really solid PSU, it'll be much more reliable than that rosewill or whatever you had in there.

I'd probably swap the case and tweak a few things but this is a pretty solid build. Is the be quiet! any better than, say, a Hyper 212 EVO? Also why 1x8GB RAM?

Edit: Thoughts @TheKDub ?

The case is the best you can get in the $100 range.

The Pure Rock is better than the 212.  I have a 212, it is loud.  I ended up spending another $13 to replace the loud fan.  Look at the Cryorig H7 as well, cools better than the 212 and is much quieter.

Well, with the extra $45, grab 16GB.

I like the black S340 a lot, so I'll probably get that.

I have a 212 in my main rig and it's fine, but I'll try the be pure rock.

8GB RAM is fine, so I'll save the money.

It comes down to whether you want a slightly more powerful CPU and a much better upgrade path, or a much more powerful GPU.

If you dont plan to overclock then you can either get the 4460 or the 6500 :D

The only difference being that the 6500 is Skylake and will have a slight performance edge over the 4460.

May I ask why you keep on changing the power supplies? The ones you are choosing are unreliable.

Yeh with some I do believe there are certain boards that have a new BIOS update that unlocked something.

Dont quote me on that.

The Antec HCG is made by Seasonic.  How is it unreliable?
