Metro: Last Light now on mac and linux?

Metro: Last Light  is now coming to MAC and Linux, be happy apple users and Linux users 

Deep Silver and 4A Games announced today that a Mac version of Metro: Last Light will arrive on September 10, while a Linux iteration will be released later in the year.

It was somewhat recently, and I just heard this second hand from my dad. He told me that when Steam did the update, somehow they broke both the Mac and Windows versions so they wouldn't even launch.

Will the game even run on either with decent performance. I know you can get a Mac edition 680 but thats about it. That card costs over £500 for the basic version from Nvidia.

a triple A game coming out for Linux is all fine and dandy but how about a proper linux gpu driver support from nvidia and AMD to run the game at its fullest?

Last I recall, valve is actively working on that along with nvidia and AMD. Why else would developers even consider Linux?

 

http://www.steamforlinux.com/ - CryEngine, Unreal Engine 4 and Source (including 2.0) all have native Linux versions running. Official driver support is an ongoing thing. nVidia drivers are already pretty good on Linux, AMD drivers were lacking afaik. This was a year or two ago. Triple A games are very playable on Linux through Wine/Crossover; not as good as Windows obviously, but not cripplingly bad (some exceptions).

holy crap, at best the mac mini's have a 8800 equivalent.... sure you can hackintosh but wtf's the point if you already have a pc?

Exposure, really. Right now, the Mac/Linux population is low by comparison, but more and more people are switching to it. Developers are targeting the future, spear-headed by Valve.

No, there aren't any macs that come stock with something capable of running metro well. I realize there are some add in cards you can get, but even then nothing that could really do well. Even a 680 really struggles in metro if you turn up the settings too much. In short, i'm not being ignorant, just merely stating a fact. A computer from apple will not be able to play metro well at decent settings.
