Apple announces iPhone 6 and 6S battery pack cover

GoodBytes

Annoyed that Apple keep shrinking the iPhone thickness to a point that its camera sticks out for no good real reason, instead of putting a larger battery?

Apple listens, and introduces the Apple's battery pack cover.

smart_battery_case.0.0.png

Yes, this is no joke. This stylish case from Apple is called the Apple Smart Battery Case, and costs $99 U.S.

The case charges the phone via the phone connector, which remains available for other accessories or connecting it to a computer. Apple claims 25h of talk time with the battery. And battery status is shown on the lock screen and notification area, not on the top of the screen like the built-in battery.

It is also available in black as well:

MGQL2_AV4.jpgMGQL2.jpg

You can order it here: http://www.apple.com/shop/product/MGQM2LL/A/iphone-6s-smart-battery-case-white?fnode=edf71393319294bfab1f075ee9cb9f5c06256817f3890d6dd45516f33fd74e1a2181fd202d934c080ff0ab7a78322eef72d18391b826487da8d129a6608634216fb46514df03452215e94bf886b063854d6a07c063cee2513c02a5ee0bf16a58

The case doesn't have enougth charge to double the battery life of the device like other cheaper solutions (Apple battery will charge the phone from 0 to 72%). The status charging LED is at the inside of the case, so you need to remove the phone from the case to see it.

So... What happened to thinner, lighter, and more powerful?

Edit:

Hopefully that's not a problematic Nokia BL-5C in there...

apple never says the battery size on any of their products, we only know after someone takes it apart.

you can have a 25600mAh battery pack cheaper for that.... wtf.

It looks ugly as hell and I'd rather take a battery pack than that anyday. Thank god my 2014 6 Plus still has decent battery to this day...

Ok ok ok.

No body wants a that much thinner phone (atleast me). They could have put that by default.

my father has meizu m2 note which is 5.5inch phone with 8.6mm thickness, but it already feels too skiny. Can't imagine why apple thinks they need to go below 7mm.

Couldn't they just make the phone a couple of fucking mm thicker and not sell this awful thing?

Well, we need @ShadowCaptain in here and see if he can defend this :P

OR JUST MAKE SLIGHTLY THICKER PHONE

I actually already have a battery case, it was £26.99 and is really nice - gives me 120% extra power and is quite slim and very nice

EDIT: - I actually only use it on occasion, 99% of the time I carry my phone naked - no case at all

They can't be serious. They are admitting their own design flaws by offering a fugly accessory for tripple the cost of comparable products? How much more apple-esque can it get? Apple is making fun of themselfs; that thing is hiddeous and embarassing!

who cares...

maybe its just really light

first of all it's nasty

second it looks glossy, which would make it even nastier.

Well, I got myself a 7000mAh battery extension for way less than $100! Now I can have an even more ridiculous standby time , and an awesome screen on time.

And it looks slick too.

It has a DIY feeling to it.
