AMD Budget Build

OK, so I recently learned about AMDs APUs and they seem amazing. And they are cheap for what they are! Enough of the fanboying. Here is the build. It is currently on-hold as I scrape up funding, and this is most likely gonna be a permanent pc. The total (without shipping) is $366.28 (242.39 Pounds, 336.55 Euros). Here is the parts list. If you don't trust that, here is the other version:

- WD Green 1TB HDD @ 7200 RPM

- CoolerMaster Hyper 212 EVO CPU Cooler

- Rosewill Dual Fan FBM-01 Micro ATX case

- EVGA 430W 80+ 

- AMD A10 7850K APU, 4 cores @ 3.7Ghz / 4Ghz Turbo w/ 4MB Cache AND Radeon R7 Graphics built in (720Mhz) TDP of 95W

- 8GB Kit of Kingston HyperX FURY (2x 4GB) @ 1866Mhz

- Gigabyte AMD FM2+ A68H Motherboard (GA-F2A68HM-H)

 

Actually, it will be a bit more than $366.28 because that was BEFORE I decided to use a 2x 4GB kit of HyperX Fury. I wanted 2 so I could go dual channel. 

And, yes I like the Rosewill FBM-01 case. It just looks so sleek ans stuff.

Also, the APU is like my CPU on steroids. It is the 4 core version of my i3 530 pretty much. 

Any suggestions appreciated.

ps. It will run Ubuntu to cut down on OS costs.

dont expect to be gaming on high settings but yes they are good for simple tasks that use a little more gpu than intel can provide

Really depends on where you're trying to go with your PC. Light gaming on Low/Medium Settings, Web Browsing should be fine for that PC.

if your budget is a max of 400 dollars you can actuly get a better build. i used to own an a10 7850k with 2133 ram. an i gpu is still an i gpu.

nope, they are not...99% of the time you'd be better with say a core i3 or an athlon 860K and a lowish-end GPU!

I've had an A10-6800K for about a year. It's nothing special. I had to take the R7 260X out at one point and left it on the APU alone - sure, it seemed almost identical on the desktop and browser, but elsewhere (games, especially) it kinda.. well, flopped. Nothing near respectable in my experience. 

 

As thorbrantly101 added in to the build, a dedicated GPU will serve you far better in the long-run; I'd say more on the 2GB version of the 260X or a GTX 950 or 750tI. As will a better SSD (I've never heard of Team Dark, I've got to admit) like an OCZ or Samsung.

thanks for noticing me. the team ssds are decent i use them on my test bench. they arent the best prefomance but they are littarly the cheapest

Good to know they're not going to explode if I ever go for one! If it's his only drive, though, he may be better opting for a bit more guaranteed stability.

I'd up the RAM to 2133mhz at least, APU's love the higher speed RAM.

Other than that it's decent, but as others have pointed out there are much stronger routes to go for just a little if not the same amount of investment.

lel i picked up a whole bunch of low end ssd's to resell when i upgrade peoples computers. some ocz triton 100's some sandisk random ones a few (really cheep)  v300's and 2 of these team one. they preform about as well as the ocz triton 100 and a little worse the sandisk one but much better v300s. these all use crappy flash except the sandisk one.

I have that CPU's little brother, the A10 7700k in my build right now, and I love it (for what it is).

Ok, thanks for all of the input. I think I may re-use my 750ti ftw with the build, and I do want to stay under $400. Also, is there away to overclock ram? My current build is running 1333Mhz and i want to see if I could overclock it. If the CPU has anything to do with it, I have an i3 530. Is there any brand that has relatively cheap 2133Mhz RAM? not really a point ram speeds really dont make a diffidence in gaming the only reason i have 2133 ram is because i got 4 sticks for 40$ on sale. 

 

eh an i3 530 is kind of pushing it i have a i5 750 and its a little old. if you have a motherboard that can overclock fine but i would sugest droping the 150$ on a new mobo and cpu.
