Tech Gifts for Non-techies Giveaway!

I would like to get a vacuum for my grandparents, because the one they have it too heavy. My grandma got hit by a car, in the 1980's, and her arm has hurt ever since. Recently, she got surgery and she can lift things again. Her arm is very weak and can only hold so much, so this 4.5 pound vacuum would help her out so much. If I win, it would mean the world to her. GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE!

I would get a new monitor for my mom to use with her laptop because she's been complaining a lot recently about how she's having trouble reading text on her laptop screen. something bigger than 22in and in 1440p would work well I think and since it's only a monitor it wouldn't be hard for her to handle when she comes home to use it with her laptop.

Since I'm going to Korea in February I'd like to the get them something in the home media segment. They aren't the biggest techies so I'd like to get them a Roku 4 something I could set up for them once and forget about it. It would be a treat for them and it is simple enough for them to operate.

I would like to get my recently widowed neighbor a smartphone, as her family is all across the country and she cannot afford a phone with her current living situation. this would help connect her to her family and be able to allow her to call 911 in case of her falling or hurting herself. a large worry after she fell last year. her kids were home and she was OK but it's a worry nonetheless. the device would also allow her to reach the internet something she can't do on her nonexistent computer. she then could post dank Linus tech tips memes and tip her fedora to you videos. (and she has internet service just no way to connect, will set up an old access point i have.)

This blu ray player goes for my sisters. They share a room and it's not too big to store too much stuff there and a home theater even with 108 x 70 x 77mm speakers would be too intrusive.

I chose this because they still have an old DVD player with no HDMI output, and they are using it with component cables just because I bought them, and they watch a lot of internet content and the fact that this model comes in with built-in WiFi is practically a must.

Or in Amazon MX

The product is the exact same and I chose to show both links because on the USA link they said they don't ship outside of the USA.

So yeah, please choose me.

I would love to give both of my parents an ASUS Chromebook C201. At $149 each, it would be a great gift because my mom still uses an old slow Dell laptop and my dad still uses a first gen iPad daily. I think they would like the simplicity and speed of Chrome OS, and would like a nice lightweight laptop they could bring anywhere.

I would give my parents a NAS because they have so many photos and videos from their vacations on different external hard drives and USB sticks. Sometimes they wanted to show me some pictures from their last vacation but they had to search 1h to find the stick with the photos. I think it is a total mess and it would be more organized if they store all the data on one save place and can access the photos from all devices. They could also do recently backups. I think what they never did bevor.

Thanks Linus and everyone else at LMG for doing a holiday giveaway.

Grandma wants a wireless printer that does high quality photo prints and a big smart photo so she can see what she is doing.  Being 76 years old and not the most tech literate person around, means both of these are probably a bad idea; she has a hard enough time just using her laptop.  I play tech support with enough of our family devices, I don't want to imagine what things would be like with those two.

Dad is fairly techy for his age and I would probably want to get him a GoPro do to all the mountain biking he does.  Partly because he loves to tell us about all his rides and partly because there are a lot of stupid people out there on the trails doing stupid things and my mom and I would like records of anything that might happen.  Peace of mind for us.

Mom says she wants the same thing as last year; a bigger house (that's not MacGyvere'd together) and Summer!  Since a new house is way out of the budget for anyone and I doubt anyone in the crew is a weather god, I'll have to go with something else.  She's currently using a second hand 2006 MacBook we got from a repair shop a friend worked at.  It doesn't have a battery, it's power cable is fraying, she's afraid of turning it off, Apple no longer supports the system, it is incredibly slow to the point where basic internet browsing is a problem and online banking is becoming a problem because no one supports the browsers/OS.  I think I'll have to replace it in the next two years as is, I doubt it will live much longer.

Seems to be a decent option for the price.  It doesn't have an ssd but it's not a chromebook and I won't have to go out and buy more storage for her if she runs out immediately.  I'll look into a family NAS at some point.

A number of replies look suspiciously like gift ideas the user wants for themselves, but LMG will be the ones to judge.

I would love to give my mom a  ZenFone 2 Laser because she is still using a very old crappy nokia phone that has a .3 megapixel rear camera and doesn't pickup calls for most of the time. It would be a great christmas gift for her. Thank you.

Id get my grandpa a universal remote.  He isnt too far lost in the tech world, he just got a 4k tv and a sound system and he's trying to learn to juggle all his remotes. Hes getting the hang of it but I think this would get him farther faster.  He got introduced to Netflix this summer and him and my grandma are obsessed.  They love the walking dead and he especially likes all the old western shows.
