New mac adress

Recently my dad decided to restrict my internet useage ( I'm 14). Youtube is blocked and I can only use it for two hours a day from 8 a.m-8 p.m. So it got me thinking that I could just get a different wifi card or wifi stick.... would this get me the unrestricted useage again? So far I know it is only locked onto one mac adress right? can I change that adress?

i can block people on my routher with their mac adres so maybe if you use a proxy server you can go on website's that are blocked. but i don't know if you can do something about the 2 hour limit because the router shuts it down for everyone i think. i don't exactly know, sorry

it only keeps my devices out of the internet our family IPad can still use the wifi

If your dad knows how to only grant your internet access for 2 hours per day, he might also notice a new network device ...

 

But why is youtube locked? There is lots of educational stuff up there ...

yes, but he actually never works with that^^ well he is convinced that there is a lot of pornography on youtube and content that I shouldn't watch, but he unblocked after a long discussion now

Before you buy new hardware, you might want to test changing your MAC address. Tutorial here. The block might not be based on the MAC address so changing it might not do anything, and in worse case scenario you might not get any Internet access at all after changing (if it's a white list).

 

If I were you however, I would talk to your dad and ask why you are only allowed 2 hours of Internet usage a day.

I already did that and that seems to work.... well the whole story is that I only have 2 hours of PC time a day and I was using it much much longer and two days ago my brother went onto a porn site and was caught...so that is why my dad put up this block....

So you are punished for something your brother did? That's horrible if you ask me. I don't see why he would block YouTube for that either, since there is next to no porn on that site.

 

Anyway if you still can't access YouTube after changing your MAC address then getting a new network card would not solve the issue. He is blocking you some other way. I think it's better to talk to him instead of trying to circumvent his block.

youtube works again and now I'm seeing if I can use the internet for more than 2 hrs....but yes

Tell your dad about Opendns . It can stop most porn sites (Well if i'm right, They stop all of them) and it can stop a lot more. You guys can use OpenDNS Familyshield.

I think his probles is that I'm too much on the pc and that my brother did that was the final straw
