I would contribute more if I could, but I've decided to wait for my old HD 7870 (only 80k ppd) to die before I upgrade my card.. As I haven't had the time for Battlefield lately, so not enough justification to upgrade the card yet sadly ?

Every bit helps.

Yeah getting a new shiny GPU just before exams could prove distracting ? But then sometimes around exam time you do need distractions.

Just thought I'd pop in and say hello.  I just started folding yesterday morning so I doubt my ranking will come close to yours anytime soon.  I did hit 21 WU and then a million points a lot quicker than I expected.  But I probably won't keep progressing at this speed for long.  Currently folding on my main PC at night and while I'm at work.  It's running a, Intel Core i9 7900X (only folding on 16 threads so I can still browse the web without lag) and 2 GTX 1080 ti's.  Today I started folding on my PLEX server as well.  It's an old HP server with 2 Xeon X5560's.  I imagine that can fold all day as encoding video for one or two streams shouldn't be bothered much at all.

Welcome aboard! And thanks for joining our Team. You should be able to move up the ranks quickly with that hardware.

I have a ryzen 7 2700x, I wonder how this will go... my GPU is hella bottleneck though. I have been folding for about 20 minutes now, I wonder how many points I will have tomorrow...

Also CPU is downclocked to 3.2ghz and affinity is 12/16 threads. (removed 2 threads from each core cluster.) for anyone who does not know, high end AMD cpus have multiple dies on the chip, the threadripper has 4 mine has 2 clusters of 4c/8t each. theoretically I reserved one core on each cluster for OS use to lower temps. Theoretically... Like how my AMD wraith MAX I ziptied to my GPU die improves cooling performance...

I imagine I won't catch up very quickly... with that hardware... Says the guy with a 2700x which according to Ubenchmark is only 11% slower than the 7900x. Hey, what can I say, that 11% is worth the extra $800 USD for some people. That would be me if I had that type of money to drop on a PC, but I would probobly go with a threaderipper instead.

CPU folding is actualy pretty inefficient though. if you really want to go for high PPD you should go for GPU folding.

What GPU do you have paired with your 2700x?

With both GPU's and my CPU it looks like 1.7M points per day.  I don't run them all the time though.   GPU's are stock reference cards, CPU is running on 16 threads of 20. Should I be averaging more than that?

I ran a FTW3 1080ti, a 970 and a 750ti at full power 24 hours for November's Folding month. My 1080ti alone averaged 1.2-1.3M PPD, and in total I was doing 1.6-1.8M PPD. An estimated 1.7M PPd for 2 1080ti's alone, not including CPU folding or your other workstations CPU's seems low to me, but @Gorgon is one of the residential LTT Folding experts

I found your stats on the extreme over clocking website in case you were curious

If you switch over to the beta WU's and you let the cards fold 24/7 you should be looking at about 2.8 to 3M PPD imo. My Titan X does over 1.5M PPD and it usually gets outperformed by 1080Tis

I'll have to see if I'm throttling.  I know my GPU's are hitting 85 C. That shouldn't be too hot. I'll check my clocks when I get a chance.

Core clocks look okay.  Not sure how to switch to beta WU's though.  And yes, I know I'm running stock speeds.  I have FE cards and plan on water cooling them eventually.

Okay, so I paused CPU folding and my PPD went from 1.7M to 1.9M.  It appears my GPU's are boosting higher without the CPU heating up my intake air (through the front rad).  I really need to get those things under water but I just don't have the $600 I'd need to get the stuff.  Might look into the EK modular stuff.  Not as nice as my old hard line build but at least it'll be cool.

Edit:  Still not sure where you think I should be getting 3M+ PPD.  While the cards do sit at 85c they are boosting past default.

you should be able to get 3M with those cards when you switch to beta WU's tho. on normal WU's the PPD looks about right.

go to configure -> slots -> 'GPU slot' -> edit -> extra slot options -> add

Name: client-type

Value: beta

then just ok on everything and you shouod be getting beta WU's on that card. do the same for the second card and the PPD should go up. you might experience some extra heat output though.

Thank you.  That helped quite a bit.  Still not reaching 3M but holding steady at about 2.36M after they started working on the Beta WU's.

Maybe have missed the discussion, but besides a likely increased PPD, why should you run Beta WU:s instead of the "production" ones?

To test beta WUs which are using the new OpenMM 22 core which appears to work better under Windows driving the GPUs harder. The is a risk of failed WUs in beta and if your Overclocking on he edge of stability you should bump your overclock down a couple of bins.

im running Linux and so wouldn’t get as much of a boost apparently but I’m also running efficiency tests which the Beta WUs would mess up.

Okay, according to the GPU Projects PPD Database my 1080 ti should destroy a Titan X.  However, a Titan X (Pascal) and the Titan Xp will beat the 1080 ti slightly.  They have the 1080 ti listed at 1.3M PPD @ 2009Mhz.  I'm getting close to that at stock speeds. Perhaps this list is out of date?  Which Titan X are you using?
