Seriously though, I'm building a system for my girlfriend's brother as a Christmas gift. $600 is the max budget.

Only going to be for gaming. Kid is 10 and is coming from a prebuilt piece of shit so anything is going to be awesome.

I have ideas, but Im' curious what you guys would do to maximize the budget.

Definitely going with SSD and adding a HDD later. Trying to stay intel.

This is what I'm considering right now

i5 4460-$170

Gigabyte GA-B85M-$60

8GB Ripjaw Ram-$30

R9 380-$180

Fractal Design r4-$100

XFX 550W 80+ Gold Power Supply-$50
