Why do PC people care so much about consoles? It's like they care about consoles more than the people who use consoles.

 

Also: exclusives and specific player base. all platforms have them.

There's no use in forcing console people to get PCs. Console people are console people, you aren't going to change that.

I'm not forcing it onto anyone. I just never understood why people pay so much for playing on consoles. I mean holy shit it's really fucking expensive. A PC could get you everything you want on a console and more, with less fees, and you can still go with pre-builts. There is literally NO extra hassle that people claim going from Console to PC.

Yes it would be nice to see exclusives go away, but I think there are some legitimate reasons for consoles to exist: it's easier

• pop in a disk and play
• No OS setup, drivers, viruses, etc.
• If it breaks, you ship it back to microsoft/sony, or take it to the store, and you get a new/fixed one

I could go on but it's kind of pointless since it's all under the same umbrella.

Bottom line, I think PCs have a **** ton more advantages, but there is a legitimate place in the market for consoles, and a legitimate reason for (certain) people to own them

You can pop in a disk and play on PC as well. You can get pre-built PC's and ship them back if it breaks. Also pre-builts come with the OS already setup and drivers installed ect.

I don't really see consoles as being simplicity, when they break and overheat all the time. I had an Xbox 360 and a PS3, I had to buy a new one every few months. I played heavily on them. I had played heavily on my PC for years, and never had a driver issue, setup issue, component issue, hardware issue. Consoles are poorly made, poorly optimized, and extremely poor service.

A prebuilt "gaming" PC for about the same cost of a console gives you all the same benefits and the same "simplicity" as a console, and less hassle about it breaking, over heating, and much better support typically over anything you could ask for.

You dislike consoles, that's ok, but some people prefer consoles. Some people don't want to fiddle with an operating system before they can play a game. With a console, as @theereal pointed out, no driver issues, no need to worry about keeping things updated, it just works.

Maybe not, but my point is still clear. It's alot easier for someone who games casually to plop down $250 on an Xbox and not have to worry about building a PC and dealing with the issues that may arise from one. Some people simply don't care about having the most amazing graphics/power and just want to game every now and then, in which case consoles do their job fine.

You can turn on a PC, throw a CD in it, and play a game. With no worries about an OS. There are pre-built systems out there for a reason. A console, is basically a tuned down PC, with an OS that can only be repaired if shipped out.

 

At least on a PC, if the OS breaks you can repair it in your own home. I've had more problems with Consoles and have seen other people have the same issues with consoles, than I have had with any PC.

Pre-Built systems... Consoles have just as many issues as PC's. However PC's are less prone to overheating. A lot less prone to it. You can get a PC for the same price of a console, with the exact same simplicity. The ups on having the PC is MUCH MORE support, and you can always explore deeper into it and learn about your hardware and do what you want, if that's not who you are then you can keep everything the same in that pre-built system and simply not care, just like a console.

OK, sure true; I wrote that as one line actually, like "this; that" but then I reworked it a lot and I guess that's not such a big one, but...

Even if they come setup already, there's still a lot more that can go wrong especially if it's being used by someone who isn't experienced or doesn't care.  Don't believe me?  Read around some of the threads here about experiences with less tech savvy people  Never underestimate the power of people to break things they don't understand.

 

And when that does happen, sure, they'll take it in to best buy or something, or send it back to the manufacturer (a lot less likely) but that's going to cost them every time.  Yes, console fixes will cost too after it's out of warranty, but (most likely) the only issues you're going to have with it are hardware, where as that PC is going to get viruses and so on since they don't know better, and because they don't know better, they'll take it in every time and that's going to add up!

 

Plus, I don't know any prebuilts that offer the same performance/dollar as a custom machine, so I think buyers doing that (again, due to inexperience) are going to end up with something even worse than a console in performance, and/or more expensive to boot.

Face It, PC's run Into Issues alot more than consoles, as a person who plays both I can vouch for that. They are also very simple to use. And they are built for the living room.

yes its starting to get phased out of the console world, but its still there. and yes i realize you can make it work on pc, but its a pain in the ass.

you cant do party gaming on a pc. yea you could do a lan party if you have the space. but the ability to have a bunch of friends over, sit on the couch and all plug a controller in, is feature that is unique to consoles.

Just like he doesn't know shit about a console. He doesn't need to know anything about a PC, I don't understand why people think you need to know everything about a computer before you get one. There are pre-built systems out there for a reason. Not only that, PC's typically have better support, and you don't have to ship it out every couple months for repairs about overheating things and it breaking.

 

Tom goes to his local Best Buy store

Tom buys a fairly priced Computer after speaking with a Best Buy Geek Squad member.

Tom goes home and plugs his new PC into his TV.

Tom now has ease of access to anything he wants!

Tom can buy a CD and put it in and start playing games after a simple installation.

Tom can now enjoy the customization of his game if he so chooses! Or he can leave the settings the way they are optimized to his PC.

Tom is now done playing games, but wait, he doesn't need to go to his PC to watch YouTube or his favorite porn site!

Whattttt. Tom can now browse the internet with complete ease right at his couch.

Yes. Local multiplayer in general is also lacking on PCs right now.  No reason why it couldn't improve, but while it remains an issue, like exclusives, that's another reason to have a console.
