First Fallout 4 performance results

SteveGrabowski0

I'm a little surprised to see the 970 beating the 390x at 1080p in the GamersNexus benchmark,

fallout-4-gpu-bench-1080-ultra.png

They also say 1080p ultra used less than 3GB vram.

For 1440p I'm still pretty surprised to see the 970 slightly outperforming the 290x.

fallout-4-gpu-bench-1440-ultra.png

4k doesn't really look playable at ultra on any single GPU.

Here is the full article from GamersNexus:

http://www.gamersnexus.net/game-bench/2177-fallout-4-pc-video-card-fps-benchmark-all-resolutions

Another interesting piece of news is Digital Foundry reports the game is parallelized to work over all 8 threads of a consumer level i7, and they show an i3-4130 + GTX 750 Ti murdering console performance.

EDIT: Nov 10, 2015

More info on volumetric lighting, added at the suggestion of @zMeul

Fallout 4 seems to favor moar corez also. Good showing for the FX-8350 here.

Yea it can compete with the 980 still, and it's a 2 (??) year old card. And that's base clock, 780ti is an overclocking beast on top of that

Are you playing on a TV? 30fps is fucking horrible and once you experience 144hz, 60fps is also

Shit.

This is very true

Is this with or without the drivers from both sides?

NV released a game ready driver, AMD didn't afaik, expecting huge boost from them (hopefully).

Also 30 FPS is playable. It may not be good enough for some people but it's more than playable.

Also wait for few more benchmarks just to see the middle ground.

The ability to google properly is a skill of its own.

New Info, Powerful Hardware

AMD Driver overhead rearing its head again, give it time and a driver should fix those issues.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

Wouldn't go as far as "destroying" but it sure as hell can stand its own in a battle.

Ahh... K. Will just have to wait and see how it is once AMD gets the driver out then..

this means this game should run pretty damn good on a FX CPU....

I don't think you've ever spent some time with a 120-144hz monitor

yep I have, but I still cant call 60fps shit, and my current monitor is 60hz, its fine, its not mind blowing, but its fine

144hz is better yes, but I wanted 1440p (and at that time there was no such thing as 144hz 1440p and my PC would not run it anyway)

All I'm saying is how the hell could you find 30fps to be smooth?

yeah 30 .. not a fan, though I did recently do like 60 hours of LA Noire at 30 and found it playable though not 100% enjoyable
